This trip offers two of arguably the most amazing wildlife adventures in Africa - chimpanzee and gorilla trekking in Uganda. You will set out to visit the beautiful rainforest of Kibale forest National Park where you track wild chimps and get to observe them for one hour as they go about their lives in the forest. Kibale forest is considered a primate haven as it hosts up to 13 species and also has the highest concentration of primates in the world. After Kibale forest National Park you will visit the aptly name Bwindi IMPENETRABLE National Park which is home of the mountain gorillas. The park has nearly half of the world's remaining mountain gorillas and there 12 gorillas families that have been habituated for tourists to visit and admire them in the beautiful Bwindi jungle they call home - a truly memorable experience! Note that one has to be 15 years and above if they are to track the chimps and gorillas.

Transfer to Kibale

Today morning, we shall head out for our amazing adventure in the beautiful rainforest of Kibale forest National Park – home of the Uganda’s largest population of chimpanzees, and also the highest concentration of primates in the world. Your English-speaking and highly professional driver guide shall pick you from the hotel in Kampala or Entebbe at 7 am and you will travel to western Uganda. Lean back in the comfortable safari car and enjoy the ride as you pass different landscapes, several villages and towns, roadside markets, local communities, and many other sights on your way to Kibale forest National Park. ~ 5hrs Check in at your lodge that is situated on the edge of the park, have lunch and later head out for the nature walk in the Bigodi wetlands. Situated on the edge of Kibale forest, the jungle wetland is home to an 8 species of primates, over 200 bird species, a number of wetland mammals, butterflies, and array of shrubs and trees. Some of the wildlife you will see include l’hoest’s, black and white, red Colobus, red tailed and vervet monkeys, baboons, mongooses, etc.. Chimpanzee trekking

After an early breakfast you will head off to the park office at 7am to meet the park ranger guides for briefing shortly before setting off into Kibale forest to find the chimpanzees. Kibale forest harbors a large population of about 1500 chimps and of which up to 3 large communities have been habituated for the tracking adventure. You will locate the chimpanzees without so much straining since the territories of the habituated chimp communities are known in beforehand by an advance team of trackers who will communicate with your park rangers. After a while of trekking through the beautiful rainforest, the loud screams and pant-hoots can be heard from a distance and will lead you directly to their location. You will spend an hour with the chimps, following them as they swing swiftly through the trees, pant hooting, slapping the tree barks and screaming to located each other across their territory – a truly adrenaline giving atmosphere and a memorable experience. Transfer to Bwindi National

After breakfast, you will continue to southern Uganda to the aptly name Bwindi IMPENETRABLE national park – home of the endangered Mountain Gorillas. There only about 880 mountain gorillas left in the world and nearly half of them are found in Bwindi. You will reach Bwindi in the late afternoon and you spend the rest of the day in the comfort of the lodge while enjoying wonderful views of the awe-inspiring Bwindi forest and the mountainous landscape. Gorilla trekking in Bwindi

Today you will have a wonderful opportunity to observe the gorgeous scenery of Bwindi forest and experience a breathtaking encounter with the endangered mountain gorillas. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park occupies the size of 321 square kilometers. It lies on steep ridges and valleys. The park is divided into 4 gorilla tracking sectors including Ruhija, Buhoma, Rushaga and Nkuringo. Up to 12 gorilla families have been habituated for the tracking adventure. After an early breakfast, you will transfer to the briefing point at 7am for allocation of the gorilla family and meeting the park ranger for the pre-trek briefing and after which you may drive to the starting point of trek into the forest. The time take to find your gorilla family depends on their location, but once you reach them, you have an hour to observe and admire these gentle giants – a surely fascinating experience which you will never forget. Return to Kampala with stop

After 4 exciting days of adventure in Kibale Forest and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, it is now time to return to Kampala. On the way to Kampala you will stop at the Uganda Equator for a picture session and some souvenir shopping if you are interested.
