The Mekong delta river refers to the area of the Southernmost tip of Vietnam. Fertile thanks to silt deposit, the low plain and wetlands of the Mekong river delta are dotted with farms and fisheries, green fruit orchard and mangrove forests. Can Tho retains its rustic, country charm where you can still find the lush orchard and endless rice fields just minutes away from city center.

Depart for the Mekong river Delta city of Ben Tre. Upon arrival we will board a boat for a leisurely cruise along a major branch of the Mekong River. We will arise early for a ride on a another branch of the Mekong River, the Song Hau. Visit the Cai Rang floating market, the largest and most well-known one in the delta. Transfer to the airport for our flights to Saigon and on to Danang. From Danang airport and we will transfer to Hoi An (30 km). In 1999, the old town was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, citing it as a well-preserved example of a Southeast Asian trading port of the 15th to 19th centuries, with buildings that display a unique blend of local and foreign influences. Sampan ride on the Perfume River, stopping at Thien Mu Pagoda, which is built on a hill overlooking the river. Visit the tomb of Emperor Minh Mang, the scholarly monarch who was the 2nd emperor of the Nguyen Dynasty. Transfer by car to visit the tomb of Emperor Tu Duc. Morning transfer to Hue airport for our flight to Ha noi. From Noi Bai airport, transfer to downtown for breakfast. Discover old Ha noi, the capital of Vietnam, including its fascinating Old Quarter, the neighborhood of 36 streets and traditional craft guilds, Long Bien Bridge, the open-air Hang Be market and the Temple of Literature, the first university in the country. Visit the Museum of Ethnology, inaugurated in 1998 by Jacques Chirac, President of the French Republic, and Madame Nguyen Thi Binh, Vice-President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. The museum, similar to that of the primitive arts Museum of Branly wharf in Paris, has collections depicting the traditional customs of Vietnam’s 54 ethnic groups. Morning departure for Halong Bay. Depending on the time available, we may stop along the way to take pictures and at a workshop where disabled people and victims of war and disease display their craft and art. Upon arrival in Halong City we will board a motorized junk to begin our cruise of Halong Bay. You will enjoy a comfortable cabin (showers, air conditioning) and panoramic views of the bay from the deck. The meals served on board will be the finest of this trip. We will cruise through the extraordinary natural wonder of Halong Bay and visit a magical cave, either Surprise Cave or the Heavenly Palace. There will be time for swimming in the emerald waters, surrounded by dramatic limestone karsts and isles. The day will begin with a small snack as we resume our cruise. Enjoy rides on sampans at Luon Cave. Return to the boat where a hearty and varied brunch will be served between 9:30 and 11:00.
