Breakfast. Depart to Mbour and visit of its big market where we can find some spices, vegetables, painted fabric, masks, all the crafts appropriate to Senegal. After the visit of the market, we continue on the port where you can attend upon the arrival of traditional boats loaded with fishes. Continuation to Kaolack. We’ll make some stops en route to visit local populations in their traditional houses. Arrival at Kaolack and installation in our hotel. Breakfast. Visit of Kaolack city with its former market of Sudanese architecture where meet sellers that come from all the bordering countries and where it is possible to find almost any product. Kaolack was and still be an important transit centre in the groundnuts trade, a traditional cash crop of Senegal. Road to eastern Senegal. We shall make small stops on the road to photograph some animals which roam near the road. We’ll have free lunch at Tambacounda. Breakfast. Today, we’ll enter the park of Niokolo Koba. This oasis of vegetation, crossed by the river Gambia had been classified World Patrimony of the Biosphere and is a vital protection against the desertification that is suffering all this sahelian area. In this big park there is more than 70 species of African’s mammal and a crowd of birds of all sorts. We’ll ride all the tiny trails with 4x4 vehicles. In the water place as Simenti, it is possible to watch infinity of animals. Lunch picnic in the park. After the breakfast we shall go to the village of the gold miners called Tomboronkoto. This region in Oriental Senegal includes several gold-bearing areas. The gold is extracted from the rock by traditional processes. The population dig deep holes in search of the rock containing some powder and sometimes gold nuggets. Visit of the village then continuation on Kédougou. After the lunch we shall visit this small town of Kédougou populated with predominantly by the Peuhl tribe from Guinea Conakry. We can also visit his market where all the ethnic groups of the region come to exchange and to sell: Guinean, Bassari, Coniagui, etc. Installation in our hotel, dinner and night (Half Board). Breakfast and departure towards the plain to join Iwol, where you will know the culture Bedik which is doubtless the most primitive traditional culture in Senegal. Several ethnic groups live in this region. You will make a trekking of one hour and half on the mounts of Fouta Djallon, natural enclave of Bedik tribe that we shall have the opportunity to know. Bediks constitutes a group related to Bassari tribe which live still hidden in mountains. We’ll have a pic nick lunch. At the Fulani village of Ibel we shall visit the fields where are cultivated traditionally the millet and the groundnut. Road towards the village of Dindefello. Breakfast. A walk plunges us gradually into a harbour of freshness in the forest, to join the most beautiful waterfall existing in Senegal. It has falls of 70m of top. Possibility of bathing in cold waters, in natural swimming pool at the foot of the waterfall. We can also visit the reserve of chimpanzees Jane Goodal. After the lunch (not included) we’ll leave Dindefello to go to Tambacounda. On the road our car will pass again in the national park but without stopping. Breakfast. Departure in direction of Elinkine. On the road, visit of Edioungou and Oussouye, villages of the Diola tribe. In this area are always tribal kings who control small kingdoms with some subjects. We’ll enjoy the beauty and diversity of Casamance flora with its rice fields and magnificent palm trees. Continuation to Elinkine where we can admire the pirogues of fishermen. From there we embark to go to Carabane Island. Visit of the island which was a big commercial centre during the colonial era (cemetery, vestiges of church...); we’ll have the opportunity to be in contact with the local population. Breakfast. Depart with a motorized canoe to Hitou island, animal sacrifices and mystical ceremonies give it its originality. We’ll visit the fetichist, an older man who can tell us about our future and who is in charge of the animist ceremonies. Come back to Carabane island for free lunch. Breakfast. We’ll make a city tour of Dakar that will permit us to discover the colonial’s remains of what was the capital of French Africa. Transfer to the harbour where we will board a ferry to go visit the island of Gorée, declared World Heritage by UNESCO. We’ll be attracted by the rest of its colonial domination while we’ll remember one of the saddest moments of humanity history: the slave trade. Back to Dakar and transfer to the Pink Lake: a stretch of pink water with a high level of salinity and ex arrival point of the rally Paris-Dakar.
