This program of 15 days plunges you into a fantastic and original world. In this adventure you will discover far corners of Senegal: the southeast called the Country Bassari with its magnificent mountains and the delta of Saloum on the West with its green labyrinth of mangrove swamp.

Breakfast. Transfer to the harbour where we will board a ferry to visit the island of Gorée (20 minutes away from Dakar). The island has been declared World Heritage by UNESCO. We’ll work around its main cobbled streets furnished of bougainvilleas. We’ll be attracted by the rest of its colonial domination while we’ll remember one of the saddest moments of humanity history: the slave trade. Lunch in a restaurant in the island then back to Dakar for a complete visit of the town. Tour around the main avenues of this metropolis where African traditions coexist with modernity. Breakfast. Visit of Kaolack city with its former market of Sudanese architecture where meet sellers that come from all the bordering countries and where it is possible to find almost any product. Kaolack was and still be an important transit centre in the groundnuts trade, a traditional cash crop of Senegal. Continuation to Wassadou. We shall make small stops on the road to photograph some animals which roam near the road. We’ll have lunch on the way at Tambacounda. Breakfast. Today, we’ll enter the park of Niokolo Koba. This oasis of vegetation, crossed by the river Gambia had been classified World Patrimony of the Biosphere and is a vital protection against the desertification that is suffering all this sahelese area. In this big park there is more than 70 species of African’s mammal and a crowd of birds of all sorts. We’ll ride all the tiny trails with 4x4 vehicles. In the water place as Simenti, it is possible to watch infinity of animals. Lunch picnic in the park. Later, we will leave it crossing the main road which divides the park into two parts, to arrive later at the village of Mako. Installation in our camp. Diner and overnight (Half Board). Read more
After the breakfast we shall go to the village of the gold miners called Tomboronkoto. This region in Oriental Senegal includes several gold-bearing areas. The gold is extracted from the rock by traditional processes. The population dig deep holes in search of the rock containing some powder and sometimes gold nuggets. Visit of the village then continuation on Kédougou. After the lunch we shall visit this small town of Kédougou populated with predominantly by the Peuhl tribe from Guinea Conakry. We can also visit his market where all the ethnic groups of the region come to exchange and to sell: Guinean, Bassari, Coniagui, etc. Installation in our hotel, dinner and night (Half Board). Breakfast and departure towards the plain to join Iwol, where you will know the culture Bedik which is doubtless the most primitive traditional culture in Senegal. Several ethnic groups live in this region. You will make a trekking of one hour and half on the mounts of Fouta Djallon, natural enclave of Bedik tribe that we shall have the opportunity to know. Bediks constitutes a group related to Bassari tribe which live still hidden in mountains. We’ll have a pic nick lunch. At the Fulani village of Ibel we shall visit the fields where are cultivated traditionally the millet and the groundnut. Road towards the village of Dindefello. Breakfast. A walk plunges us gradually into a harbour of freshness in the forest, to join the most beautiful waterfall existing in Senegal. It has falls of 70m of top. Possibility of bathing in cold waters in natural swimming pool at the foot of the waterfall. We can also, after the lunch, visit the reserve of chimpanzees Jane Goodal. Return at our camp. We shall visit its big market in which meet the ethnic groups of this oriental part of the country and those of the bordering countries as Mali and Guinea Conakry. Breakfast. We will leave the eastern Senegal to go to the west of the country. In the afternoon we will reach the city of Kaolack, focal point for trade between Senegal and the Gambia. Halt for free lunch in Kaolack and we continue down to Saloum, the region of the Serer tribe which main activity is the agriculture and the fishing for those who live at the cost. After the breakfast you will embark on canoes motorized for a stroll through the meanders of Saloum. This stroll will lead you up to the National park of the Delta of Saloum, paradise of birds and declared world heritage of biosphere. Initiation to the hand line fishing. Return in the hotel for the lunch. Stroll with horse carriage through the bush in the afternoon and visit of Simal village which population was animistic and continue nowadays to make animistic practices of their ancestors. Breakfast. Departure by car to join the peaceful sérère village of Palmarin. Meeting on the way with the local populations which live on agriculture and on the collection of the salt. We’ll see also the women collectors of oysters and shells which keep these welcoming smiles in spite of the difficulties of their spots. After the breakfast we shall embark aboard a motorised canoe and shall navigate in the river Saloum passing near the mouth between the river and the Atlantic Ocean. We shall admire the very beautiful landscape of the fishermen's village of Djifer and its multi-coloured dugouts and also islands of Saloum. Visit of the island serer niominka of Falia where we shall see working the fishermen and the collectors of shells. Return at the hotel. Free afternoon to take advantage of the beach. Breakfast. Road to Saly. On the road we shall visit the biggest baobab tree of Senegal that was also the cemetery of Griot tribe. Stopover in Joal, city of childhood of the late Senegalese president Léopold Sedar Senghor, before continuing to the Island in shells, Fadiouth. By a wooden bridge you will reach this animistic village of catholic adoption with its attics on piles and its cemetery in shells where are buried Catholics and Muslims. After the breakfast, free morning to take advantage of the swimming pool of the hotel or the beach. Lunch free and at 05h 30 pm, departure in car in the direction of Mbour, lived by the sérères and the lébous tribe which establish one of the biggest ethnic groups of fishermen of the region. Arrival and visit of the traditional market before going to the craft market. In this market, you will find some painted fabric, masks, all the crafts appropriate to Senegal and made by the sculptors of the Lébou tribe.
