Arrival at International Airport. After formalities, we’ll transfer in a private air-conditioned car to our hotel. Overnight.
Breakfast. After a quick city tour of Dakar, we follow up to the famous Pink Lake: a stretch of pink water with a high level of salinity. There we have the opportunity to see how women of surrounding villages extract salt from the lake, this lake which is the arrival point of the Paris-Dakar. We continue towards Saint-Louis. This city is presumed to be the first European town of all West Africa. This colonial city offers to us the remains of its glory past. Dinner and overnight in our hotel. Read more
-Breakfast. OPTION 1: Departure towards the north. 60 km later, arrival to the National Park of Djoudj where we’ll take motorized canoes to go through the River Senegal. This ornithological park is the third most important one in the world. It’s an ecological area of vital importance for the fauna of the region. 3 million of birds of all kind, transit between November and May by this natural sanctuary. OPTION 2: Departure to Gandiole where a motorized canoe waits for us to realize a cruise in the ornithological reserve of Barbarie. This site welcomes a large variety of migratory birds and hosts different types of trees. -Return to St-Louis and Lunch (at your charge) in a restaurant in the island. After a little rest, in a horse-cart, we will visit the colonial district, the popular one also called fisher’ district. Riding along its narrow streets bordered by colonial houses is like living in another century. Dinner and overnight. Read more
Breakfast. Morning free to stroll in the streets of Saint-Louis's island or along Hydrobase's beach. Not included lunch. In the evening we go to Lompoul desert - dunes of 25 - 30m-. Arrival to the desert and installation in your lodge. You will have the possibility of doing a small trekking with your guide across the dunes admiring the beautiful sunset. After a breakfast in the desert we will have free time to realize a stroll on camel (not included). After that our trip goes on to the sacred city of Touba. This "meca" Senegalese is the main sanctuary for the followers of the Muridism, the branch of the Islam that prevails in the country. The marabout, spiritual leader, lives in this original city built around the huge mosque with its splendid minaret. From there we continue to Kaolack for lunch (at your charge). Continuation to Toubacouta where is located our hotel, Dinner and overnight. Read more
Breakfast. Today we enjoy a typical African bush experience in an open game viewing vehicle on a guided sunrise game drive through the reserve. See family herds of the rare West African Giant Derby Eland – only found in this part of the world and visit the breeding camp. Other antelope species such as roan, waterbuck and bushbuck can also be viewed, as well as giraffes, rhino, buffalo, warthog, red colobus, green vervet and red patas monkeys as well as exquisitely coloured bird species amongst the giant African mahogany trees. Enjoy morning coffee sundowners and snacks next to the waterhole as you experience a magnificent African sunrise. Binoculars are advised as animals and bird sightings are not always close by. In the afternoon after a little rest, we’ll experience a sunset cruise in the birds islands located in the river Saloum. The delta, where Sine and Saloum come together, is a labyrinth of island. We can enjoy with a lovely cruise into the mangrove creek. Back to our hotel. Dinner and overnight. Read more
Breakfast. Depart to Dakar. We’ll make some stops en route to visit local populations. Arrival in Mbour and visit of its big market where we can find some spices, vegetables, painted fabric, masks, all the crafts appropriate to Senegal. After the visit of the market, we continue on the port where you can attend upon the arrival of traditional boats loaded with fishes. Continuation to Dakar. Installation in our hotel, dinner and overnight. Read more
Breakfast. Beginning of a city tour of Dakar, the Senegalese capital. We’ll make a visit that will permit us to discover the colonial’s remains of what was the capital of French Africa: the Presidential palace, the Independence Place, the chamber of commerce….. Transfer to the harbour where we will board a ferry to visit the island of Gorée (20 minutes away from Dakar). Gorée is an island of 300m wide and 900m long which long ago was the stake in numerous confrontations between the Portuguese, English, Dutch and French. Hundreds of thousands of men, women and children were deported from Gorée. The « slaves’ house » with its door opened on the ocean is a terrible reminder of the cruelty of men towards men. We come back to Dakar to realize our last shopping, at the appropriate hour, transfer to the airport. End of our services. Read more
