You will be met at Hosea Kutako Airport by the vehicle hire company and transferred to their offices in Windhoek for the vehicle handover. After booking into your accommodation, you can relax at the pool or enjoy a visit to the city centre. Guided city tours, bicycle tours and cultural tours are all available on request. Dinner can be booked at the accommodation (if available) or the reception can assist with booking one of the many great local restaurants. Depart from Windhoek after breakfast and begin your Namibia camping tour, traveling north via Otjiwarongo to Okonjima, to visit Africat Foundation. Enjoy an afternoon activity of your choice.
After you went to visit visit Africat Foundation, perhaps a morning activity before departing for the easternmost gate of Etosha National Park. Optional stops en route at the Hoba Meteorite and Lake Otjikoto are possible. Relax at the lodge's swimming pool or waterhole in the afternoon.
This area of Etosha National Park has a higher concentration of predators including cheetah, leopard and lion. We therefore recommend planning an early morning game drive into the park for your best chance of sighting these wild predators. Relax at the lodge in the afternoon.
Today you will need to plan for a fairly long drive Tsintsabis to Rundu. Overnight at the lodge situated along the Okavango. Activities like cultural visits, boat cruises and fishing are also possibilities if arriving in time.
The Namibia camping tour continues into the Caprivi to Divundu at Popa falls and then on towards the Mahangu part of the Bwabata National Park. This tiny park is teeming with wildlife and a popular stop in the Caprivi.
A mere 200 km drive further and you reach the Kwando river at Kongola, famous for the beautiful Horseshoe bend drive. Overnight at one of great options in the area, or travel a bit further to the Nkasa Rupara Park and overnight just outside the park.
We highly recommend a guided tour to Horseshoe bend - quite spectacular scenery and wildlife.
After breakfast drive via Katima Mulilo and the border post Ngoma bridge to Kasane. After checking into your accommodation, you can either enjoy an afternoon boat cruise on the Chobe to the Puku Flats, or just relax at the pool.
In the morning, we recommend leaving your hire vehicle in Kasane, and taking a shuttle across the Kazungula border to Victoria falls in Zimbabwe. Here you can visit the majestic waterfalls, and if time permits perhaps even bungee jump off the old train bridge. Enjoy a refreshing Zambezi beer and light lunch at the colonial styled Victoria Hotel before returning in the afternoon to Kasane. Read more
If arranged in advance, and dependent on provider availability, we would suggest a combination day trip combining a game drive into the Chobe Park with a picnic lunch at Serondella and then return via boat cruise in the afternoon to your accommodation. Alternatively, you can plan a game drive in the morning and afternoon boat cruise or vice versa. This area has a high population of elephants and other wildlife and is therefore well worth the excursions by boat or car. Bear in mind that the morning cruise is often very different in sightings to the afternoon. Read more
Continue your Namibia camping tour south into the Chobe Park to the Savuti area. The Savuti Channel flows water again after close to 30 years and so these amazing flood plains are filled with lots of game and birdlife.
Spend the day exploring the beautiful bounty of life on the floodplains.
Use the Sandridge road from Savuti and exit the Chobe Park via the Mababe Gate. Head to the Khwai area just north of Moremi Park, your next destination on the Namibia camping tour. We recommend overnighting outside the Moremi Park.
The Khwai area offers extremely good chances for seeing leopard, lion, wild dogs, elephant, buffalo, hippo and crocodiles. Alternatively, enjoy a game drive into the Moremi park.
After a short morning game drive, continue your Namibia camping tour heading south to Maun for on overnight stay. Here we would recommend a one hour flight over the Delta with Mack Air or a Mekoro excursion on the Thamalakane River.
Head south west to the outpost town of Ghanzi (beware potholes on the tar road). Here you have the opportunity to visit with the local San Bushmen and learn about their culture.
Enjoy a morning activity before continuing to the Buitepos borderpost and back into Namibia.
Head back to Windhoek to return your hire car (allow at least one hour for handover). You will then be transferred out to the airport for return your flight home in the evening, ending here the Namibia camping tour.
