On this tourת, you will visit the spectacular tall red sand dunes in the world in the Namib Desert in an area of Sossusvlei. This area is characterized by high sand dunes of vivid pink-to-orange color, an indication of a high concentration of iron in the sand and consequent oxidation processes. The oldest dunes are those of a more intense reddish color. These dunes are among the highest in the world; many of them are above 200 meters.
On arrival at Windhoek Airport you are met by a Tour Guide from Nali Safaris and you will be transferred to your hotel in Windhoek with the remainder of your afternoon at leisure.
You will be met by a Tour Guide from Nali Safaris at the hotel and your spectacular holiday journey begins as we proceed on a scenic drive road via beautiful landscapes and mountain views of Naukluft mountain range to reach Sesriem area where you will stay for two nights. This is the oldest desert on earth formed some 5 million years ago, a breath-taking sea of sand and dunes that can reach up to 220 meters high. Due to early morning fog from the coast, this arid place is home to a surprising array of creatures which benefit from the moisture. This morning we rise very early in the morning before sunrise to visit the spectacular dunes at Sossusvlei, reputedly the highest sand dunes in the world. The drive takes you through commanding vistas of the Tsauchab River Valley towered over by dunes; then explore Sossusvlei, a clay pan set amid the dunes. This is the perfect spot to climb some of the highest sand dunes in the world. Stop for breakfast before heading off to the dramatic Sesriem Canyon carved out of the local sedimentary rock over by the Tsauchab River. You return for lunch at the lodge and spend the afternoon relaxing and soak up the sweeping views across the open plains. Later join a guided nature sunset drive to the Marble Mountains. We depart the lodge after breakfast and make our way via Remhoogte Pass heading back to Windhoek. Here the remainder of the afternoon will be at leisure and we recommend an afternoon tour of Namibia’s capital and dinner at the infamous Joe’s Beerhouse before returning back to the Olive Exclusive where you will overnight this evening. Today you will board an Air Namibia flight to Victoria Falls from where you will be transferred to Kasane in Botswana, joining the Zambezi Queen here. The tour continues to the town of Katima Mulilo on the banks of the Zambezi River where you will stop for lunch before continuing to the Namibia/Botswana border before reaching Kasane via the Chobe National Park. You will overnight at a lodge on the banks of the Chobe River from where you will do a late afternoon game-viewing cruise where large herds of elephant, buffalo, hippo, crocodile and an abundance of birds can be seen. Today you will board the spectacular Zambezi Queen for the last leg of your journey. Please note that should you arrive at Chobe Marina Lodge before 13h00, you will remain in the comfort of the lodge where you are able to relax in the air-conditioned riverside lounge offering Zambezi Queen clients a complimentary coffee station. You can also make use of the public areas & use the complimentary WIFI of the hotel before our Zambezi Queen staff collects you from the Riverside Lounge at 13h00 to transfer you to Zambezi Queen. Please note that all drinks and food ordered, other than what is on offer at our coffee station will be for your own account to settle before you depart to the Zambezi Queen. 13h00 – 16h00 Arrival at Chobe Marina Lodge (Riverside Lounge) located close to Kasane Immigration Office on the Botswana side of the Chobe River.
