DAY 1

Arrival in Windhoek

You will be met at Hosea Kutako Airport by the vehicle hire company and transferred to their offices in Windhoek for the vehicle handover. After booking into your accommodation, you can relax at the pool or enjoy a visit to the city centre. Guided city tours, bicycle tours and cultural tours are all available on request. Dinner can be booked at the accommodation (if available) or the reception can assist with booking one of the many great local restaurants. Read more

DAY 2

Kalahari Desert

Depart from Windhoek after breakfast and travel south to the western edge of the Kalahari desert with its famous red sanded landscape and acacia trees. Enjoy a game drive, cheetah feeding and sundowner on the Dune with possible starviewing at night. Then take a walk with the San Bushmen the following morning. Read more

DAY 3

West to Sesriem

Head westward via scenic roads along the Naukluft mountains to Sesriem just outside the Namib Naukluft National Park and gateway to some of the highest sand dunes in the world. If time permits, you can visit the Sesriem Canyon near the gate of the park. Or enjoy a local activity at your lodge.

DAY 4

Explore Sossusvlei

We recommend an early departure to catch the spectacular dawn lighting at Dune 45. Then you continue deeper into the Namib Naukluft Park to explore Sossusvlei and Deadvlei. And if you are feeling adventurous, try climbing the immense dunes - no easy feat!

DAY 5

Via Pro-Namib to Swakopmund

Your journey continues north with a must stop at Solitaire for a refuel - and of course, a taste of the famous apple pie! Then cross the the Gaub and Kuiseb Passes and continue via Ganab and Tinkas through spectacular scenery to the C28 (you will need to get a permit at Sesriem before departure). If time permits, you can take a small detour to admire the ancient Welwitschia plants and Moon Landscape before continuing on to the quaint coastal town of Swakopmund. Check into your accommodation and then enjoy a dinner at one of the many great restaurants in town. Read more

DAY 6

Activity and Sightseeing

We highly recommend the morning 4 - 4.5 hour seal and dolphin boat or catamaran cruise. This is an unforgettable experience on excellent boats/catamarans and can also be enjoyed in combination with a 4x4 excursion to Sandwich Harbour.

DAY 7

Activity & Sightseeing

Another excellent morning activity is the “Living Desert Tour” which explores the “Little 5” in the dunes just south of Swakopmund. The tour lasts about 4.5 – 5 hours. Other great activities, depending on your interests, are quadbiking, sandboarding tandem skydiving, cultural tours, and more. For the afternoon we suggest a leisurely stroll through town and perhaps some souvenir shopping. Read more

DAY 8

Cape Cross & Twyfelfontein

Depart Swakopmund and head up the Skeleton coast to visit the Cape Cross Seal Colony (if desired). Then continue inland to the Twyfelfontein area. Visit the rock engravings, a UNESCO world heritage site, in the late afternoon or early the next morning to catch the best lighting for photos.

DAY 9

Palmwag Concession

Your journey continues a short way north to Palmwag where you will leave your hire vehicle safely parked for two nights while on a guided excursion into the Palmwag Concession The Under Canvas Sleepout offers adventurous spirits a chance to get further away from civilization yet have a knowledgeable guide and camp assistant on hand for camp set up and meals. DAY 10

Palmwag Concession

The safari ventures deeper into this remote area in search of the black rhino, which has adapted itself so well in this arid landscape, even feeding on the poisonous endemic Euphorbia Damarana bushes. The Palmwag Concession is a showcase of wildlife, open plains with occasional springs and stunning, red, Etendeka mountain landscapes. And the night sky offers an incredible view of our Milky Way Galaxy. Read more

DAY 11

Khowarib & Ongongo Rapids

The safari ends back at Palmwag with a guided hike. Continue northward in your hire vehicle to Khowarib with an optional stop to view the Ongongo Rapids.

Hoanib Excursion

Enjoy a full day exploring the Hoanib dry riverbed. This area has abundance of game such as desert giraffe, oryx, springbok, baboons and, of course, the famous Hoanib desert elephants. There is always a chance to see desert lion here as well. For nature lovers the Hoanib Valley, with its absence of fences and livestock, is an unforgettable experience. Read more

DAY 13

North to Epupa

Continue north over the Joubert Pass to Opuwo and up to Namibia's northern border at Epupa. The majestic falls are incredible when full but even in drier months interesting to visit as the high watermarks and beaches become visible.

Himba & Waterfalls

Learn about the local Himba culture in the morning, relax at the pool and then enjoy a hike up to a great sundowner spot along the river bank.

DAY 15

Via Opuwo to Hobatere

Head back south towards the westernmost gate of the Etosha National Park, Galton Gate. Overnight nearby in the beautiful Hobatere Concession are with its rich diversity of game. This area offers a huge variety of game such as Hartmann’s Zebra, giraffe, lion, elephant etc. Hobatere Lodge offers game drives during the day and at night, as well as guided walks. Or simply relax at one of the hides near the pool or at the nearby waterhole. Read more

DAY 16

Western Etosha

Enter the Etosha National Park via Galton Gate and continue via Otjovasandu and Dolomietpunt to the rest camp, Okaukuejo. Here you have a good chance to see black rhino and other game at the waterhole. Exit the park before sundown at Andersson Gate and check in at nearby accomodation.

DAY 17

Eastern Etosha

Plan a leisurely game drive from waterhole to waterhole through eastern Etosha. Lunch at Halali, then continue east to exit at Von Lindequist gate before sundown.

DAY 18

Eastern Etosha

This area of Etosha National Park has a higher concentration of predators including cheetah, leopard and lion. We therefore recommend planning an early morning game drive into the park for your best chance of sighting these wild predators. Relax at the lodge in the afternoon.

DAY 19

Waterberg Plateau

The journey heads southeast via Otjiwarongo to the Waterberg Plateau area with optional en route stops at Lake Otjikoto, Tsumeb town and museum and the Hoba Meteorite near Grootfontein.

DAY 20

Waterberg Plateau

Hike up to the top of the plateau in the morning for spectacular views. Enjoy a game drive in the afternoon in search of rhino and other wildlife.

DAY 21

Back to Windhoek

Head back to Windhoek to return your hire car (allow at least one hour for handover). You will then be transferred out to the airport for return your flight home.
