Arrival in Antananarivo, your travel agent will meet you at the airport and take you to your hotel in town. Overnight in a hotel.
In the morning, you will leave Antananarivo and go towards the East direction. Your journey will take you to the highlands of Mandraka Valley to Andasibe, the only one place where we can see the greatest exponent of lemur: Indri indri. Andasibe consists mainly of primary forests that are home to rare and endangered species. Check-in at your hotel upon arrival and embark on the Andasibe tour. In the afternoon, you will visit the Vakôna Forest lodge private reserve. You will make a first meeting with the Indri Indri. While on this Andasibe tour, you will also make a canoe ride to the islands of lemurs. In early evening, you will continue the Andasibe tour and go to a nocturnal visit at Mitsinjo Association Private Park to search for “mouse lemurs” the smallest and strictly nocturnal lemurs, listen to the frogs, or stumble across sleeping chameleons after dark. Night walks usually begin between 06:00p.m and 07:00p.m and last around an hour and a half... Mitsinjo Association is a Malagasy NGO that started as a community initiative, Mitsinjo manage a part of the Analamazaotra Forest Station and the Torotorofotsy Ramsar Site, which are now its main focal areas for conservation, research and sustainable development (including agriculture and health) initiatives. Located in Andasibe, one of the biodiversity hotspots of the eastern Madagascar rainforest corridor, Mitsinjo integrates the protection of prime habitat and the generation of sustainable income for the local population living in and around these areas. Early in the morning before leaving to Manambato, you will do an immersion inside the humid forest of Analamazaotra National Park. The Analamazaotra National Park is a forest corridor of a scenic landscape with an ecotourism attraction of various ranges through its various endemic flora that are a natural forest panorama rich in biodiversity. The park has 120 species of orchids with an endemic rate of 100%. Most are epiphytes; more than 1,200 species of plants with an endemic rate of 77%. The park is home to 11 species of lemurs, carnivorous and rich mammal fauna but also 109 species of birds and 3 species of terrestrial Rollers. Through the “Indri 1” tour, you will discover during 02 hours the biggest diurnal lemur of Madagascar, Babakoto or Indri indri and also other lemurs as sifaka, lemur Bamboo, Lemur fulvus, Varika. You will encounter birds such as the bird of paradise, Madagascar dial, Coua blue ... and reptiles such as boa manditra, chameleons as Calumna parsonii Cristifer and Calumma parsonii uroplatus, lizards as Madagascar Voemi ... Going also the discovery of medicinal plants and the famous Vakoana, Ravinala. After the visit, you will leave Andasibe and go to Manambato, a small village on Lake Rasoabe; starting point for your discovery of the Pangalanes Channel. The Pangalanes Channel is a series of lagoons and rivers that stretches almost 700 Kms from Tamatave in eastern Madagascar until Farafangana in southeastern. The channel was dug during colonization area parallel to the Indian Ocean on the east coast of Madagascar. The channel allows the transit of goods along a coast impractical. You will discover, in small boats, the lush vegetation of the surrounding lakes and rivers (mangroves, orchids...), characteristic of the east coast of Madagascar, and join Akanin’ny nofy. You will arrive at the end of the afternoon. This little paradise known as the charming name of Dream Nest, meaning of the Malagasy name "Akanin’ny Nofy", is a haven of peace along the Pangalanes channel. After breakfast, you will make a visit at Palmarium private reserve. The Palmarium private reserve is a very singular subject, it is a real natural shelter of fauna and flora of Madagascar with its extraordinary plant species composed of specific Madagascar palms, orchids, carnivorous plants, especially Nepenthes, the traveler's tree or ravinala, as well as the rarest plant species such as Dypsis, the Ravenea, the Orania, but also the Voanioala and Lemurophoenix. At Palmarium there are ten species of lemurs like the Indri Indri, the biggest lemur of the planet; the black-and-white ruffed lemur; the Propithecus or sifaka. In the morning, you will take the boat to Sainte Marie Island. The departure is scheduled between 10:30 am and 12:00am according to the tides. The crossing takes about two hours and half before you will finally embark on your Sainte Marie trip. In your arrival in Sainte Marie, a representative of your hotel will meet you at the port and take you to the hotel, and then you will embark on your Sainte Marie trip. Sainte Marie is a paradise Island in the heart of the Indian Ocean. The day will be dedicated to the discovery of the capital and its surroundings in a magnificent Antananarivo tour. Antananarivo, the "City of a Thousand" is the largest city in Madagascar. It stands on the side of one of the twelve sacred hills. This city is the cradle of the Merina dynasty. The visits of the upper town (the old town) where formerly stood the ROVA, palace of Queen RANAVALONA first (1828/1861) and the Palace of the Prime Minister Rainilaiarivony converted into National Museum; will be an opportunity to discuss the important role of "Hova"; highland people, who first established state structures in Madagascar. You will continue the morning strolling in the Antananarivo tour through the lively and typical districts which have, over time, keep an authentic character. In the afternoon, you will leave Antananarivo to explore the countryside of Imerina, villages, customs and traditions, living heritage highlands. Contonue the Antananarivo tour and go to Ambohimanga ( "Blue Hill") visiting the Royal Hill. On the basis of cultural criteria, Ambohimanga is the only Malagasy site included on the UNESCO list of world heritage. The fortress consists of a royal city, a royal burial site, and an ensemble of sacred places. Combined with a strong sense of national identity, it retains its atmosphere of spirituality and sacredness, in practice and in the minds of the people, for some 500 years. It remains a place of worship and pilgrimage that can come from Madagascar and elsewhere. After the Antananarivo tour, you will be taken to a nearby airport hotel for day use.
