Gorilla tracking & drive to

Have an early breakfast preferably at 6.00am and transfer to the starting point of the specific Gorilla family that you will be tracking. With packed lunch in your carry-on, your guide will deliver you to the tracking/trekking start point before 8:00 am for registration and a briefing from the rangers on what to expect before commencing your tracking/trek. The guides will then take you through the bush, pushing your way through the undergrowth, parting thick creepers, looking for where thee family of gorillas you are tracking spent the night. (Tracking/trekking can take from half an hour to 5 hours – a reasonable degree of fitness is required as well as a sturdy pair of walking shoes). When you finally locate the family that you are tracking, sit in the forest among the gorillas, listening to them grumble to each other, and marvel at the sheer size of the dominant male; the silverback. It is an extraordinary feeling sitting in the dense rainforest in the knowledge that you are in the presence of the few remaining Mountain Gorillas in the wild. After the mandatory 1 hour is up, the rangers and guides will lead you back to the starting point where your guide will be waiting for you. You will then commence your transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park (3 hours) this time by road. Arriving late in the afternoon, you will check into Ishasha Jungle Lodge for relaxation and later dinner and overnight stay. What to bring for gorilla tracking/trekking: light hiking boots, light rain jacket, daypack, 2 litres of water, gardening gloves, long trousers either jeans/khakis, long-sleeved shirt, wide-brimmed hat, sun glasses, insect repellent and an energy bar. At 2.00pm, you will embark on a boat cruise along the Kazinga channel – a major highlight of the safari to Queen Elizabeth National Park. On the boat cruise, you will have the opportunity to view great numbers of wildlife including elephants, crocodiles, hippos, buffaloes and large numbers of birds like eagles, kingfishers, sparrows, doves, weaver birds, eaglets and sun birds converging at the channel waters to enjoy a sip of the natural waters. After the 3-hour boat cruise, you will then return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Mweya Safari Lodge. Read more

A Magical Uganda experience with Africa Uzuri Safaris” Our family safari holiday to Uganda was handled professionally by Africa Uzuri Safaris and I would recommend them highly. We were met at Entebbe airport by our driver/guide who transferred us to Cassia Lodge in Kampala for an overnight stay. Our safari started in Jinja where we visited the Source of the Nile and later participated in adrenaline-raising activities. The whole experience was indeed magical as the experience of riding quad bikes on dirt trails beside the Nile, to the game safari in the Murchison Falls National Park were all wonderful. We would never have included these attractions on our itinerary if we had chosen to do it ourselves – we would have missed out on some of the fun. Rummaging through Kibale Forest National Park in search of chimpanzees and learning about the other 12 primates that live in this forest, the birdlife and plants was very refreshing. However, nothing prepares you for an encounter with the Mountain Gorillas in Bwindi. We tracked gorillas in Buhoma – the northern sector because of its gentler terrain (on recommendation from Edris) but all I have to say is that the mandatory 1-hour we spent in the presence of the gentle gorillas was the most magical. The accommodations were perfect all the way. Our driver/guide Twaha was very professional and knowledgeable. If you are planning travel to Uganda, don’t hesitate, book with them. Read more

Thank you for arranging a wonderful safari holiday for my family We contacted Uzuri Safaris to arrange our 8 days safari holiday to Uganda and from the get go, Edris, who we were in communication with at the office throughout the arrangement of the trip was very professional; responding to emails quickly and answering all our queries regarding the trip. Once we got to Uganda, we fell in love with everything – the people, food, wildlife and the scenery and a lot more. Our driver/guide who spoke perfect English and knew all the places we visited like the back of his hand did a wonderful job and we are very grateful to him for making our trip enjoyable. The highlight was the 1-hour we spent with the Mountain Gorillas in Bwindi – what an experience! The accommodations that were selected from the hotel in Kampala, the lodge in Kibale Forest, Queen Elizabeth National Park and in Bwindi were clean and comfortable. To sum it all up, we had a wonderful time in Uganda and we recommend them for anyone intending to travel to Uganda. Read more

Amazing week in Uganda We had an incredible time in Uganda this summer, it was very well organised and we felt in safe hands the whole time. We went gorilla trekking in the Bwindi National Park, and on safari in the Queen Elizabeth National Park. Gorilla Trekking was the highlight, definitely something to tick off the bucket list. Overall, i couldn't fault our trip, and would recommend it to anyone and everyone! Read more
