Victoria Falls Zambezi Day

Highlights: Tour of Falls Zimbabwe + Zambezi Lunch Cruise + Helicopter Flight. After breakfast you will be picked up for a guided tour of the falls, meander through the lush canopied rain forest, a micro climate created by the spray from the falls. Discrete paths which are wheel chair friendly take visitors to viewing points which allow for stunning viewing and photographic opportunities. In peak season over seven hundred million cubic litres of water per minute from the Zambezi river tumble and roar into the hundred meter deep chasm, a spectacle of nature unrivaled anywhere in the world. The kilometer long paths take you from the David Livingstone statue and Devils Gorge in the eastern most portion of the falls to the Boiling Pot in the west, where this incredible volume of water writhes and twists in it's efforts to escape to the Indian ocean two thousand kilometers downstream. Zambezi Lunch Cruise After visiting the falls, return to your hotel to freshen up, and dry off, before setting off for a lunch cruise. The cruise begins a couple of kilometers upstream of the falls, where the Zambezi river gently meanders over a kilometer wide front. Islands fringed with palm tree's, hippo honking, and the haunting cry of an African Fish Eagle are almost unimaginable in there serenity considering the thunderous spectacle of the the falls just a few kilometers downstream. Opportunities to see elephant and plains game are on offer, and if lucky you might witness elephant swimming to one of the islands. Crocodiles basking on exposed sand banks, stunning bird life and and the distant roar of the falls set the tone for a fabulous lunch. Helicopter Flight In the afternoon, experience the thrill of flying in a helicopter over the falls. This twelve minute flight gives a birds eye view of the falls, placing in perspective the sheer scale and magnitude of the falls. A perfect ending to a day spent on and above the Zambezi river. Victoria Falls Botswana Day

Highlight: Chobe Day Trip. An early start today, you will be picked up at 07H15 for your transfer to Botswana. The Botswana border is 74km from Victoria Falls, on a good paved road. The journey runs parallel to the Zambezi river, but ten to fifteen kilometers inland, travelling through Zambezi National Park and the Matetsi Safari area. Game viewing often starts immediately with elephant and buffalo crossing the road coming to or from the Zambezi. On arrival at the border post (Kazangula), and after completing immigration formalities, you will be transferred to the Chobe River. A short briefing with a cup of coffee, a leg stretch and bathroom visit before you embark on a specially modified game viewing boat for a cruise on the Chobe River. Chobe National Park hosts the single largest concentration of elephant in Africa, latest count being in excess of fifty thousand, along with an astounding variety of wildlife. The Chobe river, forming the northern boundary of park, is the only source of water for hundreds of kilometers in the dry season, attracting enormous herds of elephant, buffalo and plains game. As you cruise along the river you can marvel at elephants coming to drink, often bathing and swimming. At times it can be bewildering to try and keep track of which elephant, or herd of elephant to watch, along with buffalo, giraffe, hippo, crocodile, birds, impala, puku...... keep a sharp eye out for Lechwe, an antelope that you will not see anywhere else on this trip. Predators, especially lion are well represented, but this is a wild, untamed, un-fenced national park so there are no guarantees. Return to base for lunch and then set off afterwards for a game drive into park. A different experience from the boat cruise, but as rewarding. Close up sightings of elephant are the order of the afternoon, whilst any predators that were inland and not visible from the boat can sometimes be tracked down. In the late afternoon you will return to the border post, leave Botswana and return to Victoria Falls. The Chobe Day trip is often described as the best one day game viewing experience of offer in Africa! Overnight Victoria Falls Hotel Dinner, Bed and Breakfast Basis. Read more

Victoria Falls Culture & History Day

Highlight: African Village Tour + Home Hosted Lunch + Bridge Tour + Boma Dinner. In the morning guests are taken to an authentic rural village approximately 20km from Victoria Falls town where they are given the opportunity to interact with villagers going about their daily tasks. The tour enables guests to see rural life first hand; visiting rural homes, watching their fields being tended and possibly getting the chance to help in some of the day-to-day chores. This is highly recommended for all age groups, but especially children and teens. Home hosted Lunch meals provide valuable income to local providers. This initiative aims to empower local people by providing income and allowing them to have a fun interaction with visitors while teaching them about local culture and traditions. Families welcome guests into their homes and provide them with a traditional meal. This has proved highly successful and greatly beneficial to the individuals involved. A short transfer takes you to the Chinotimba High Density suburb, where you will hosted by a local family in their residence and served a traditional African home made lunch. A great experience for children or teens who will enjoy meeting other children and learn about other cultures. Expect an authentic home cooked meal, there will be options you are familiar with that are commonly eaten in Zimbabwe such as beef stew as well as some local dishes that may be new to you. You do not have to try these if you are wary but it is great fun if you do. Bridge Tour Guests are collected from hotel and transferred by vehicle through customs and immigration to the Victoria Falls Bridge Visitors Centre. After a refreshment and registration the tour begins. It starts with a very entertaining performance by an actor impersonating Mr. Georges Imbault who was the chief engineer during the construction of the bridge. This show last about 45 minutes as he regales stories of how and why the bridge was constructed, the enormous problems they encountered and how they overcame them. It's enthralling and fascinating. After a short safety briefing and the donning of a safety harness by which you attach yourself to safety ropes under the bridge, you are then led on a guided walk underneath the bridge which gives you a real opportunity to marvel at the Bridge's construction. Boma Dinner This is a cultural experience as well as a restaurant, situated in Gusu Bush near the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge. The Menu specializes in a range of traditional Zimbabwean dishes as well as a barbecue buffet so everyone’s tastes are catered for but also with the chance to try local delicacies such as mopani worms, game stews and traditional beer. Shangaan dancers and singers entertain you and the Restaurant has its own sangoma - a traditional storyteller. Join in the interactive drumming! Victoria Falls Zambia Day

Zambia Tour of Falls + Livingstone Island Tour + Livingstone Museum & City Tour................, After breakfast you will be taken to the Zambian portion of the falls, make sure you have your passports. After completing immigration, the falls tour begins literally two minutes from the Zambian border. The Zambian falls make up a third of the total length of the falls, and are also the highest part of the falls. In the dry season (Sep-Nov) there is often only a trickle of water over this portion of the falls, highlighting the massive basalt face of the falls. Livingstone Island Lunch Tour The Devils Pool itself is a deep natural pool that has been created by thousands of years of erosion, but what is unique about it is that there is a rock ledge on the lip of the Falls, where the water is only a few centimetres deep. This natural barrier is what allows you to jump into the deep pool but not get swept over the edge. You swim slightly upstream in a very slow current, being a strong swimmer is not a prerequisite. A safety rope is also in place as an added precaution. You then climb out on another rocky outcrop close to the edge of the Falls and the Devils Pool. You can now lie on this rock lip at the edge of the Devils Pool and look right into the 103m chasm of the Falls, with huge torrents of water flowing just meters away. The guides will take photos and video of you with your camera if you have Departing Royal Livingstone at 12h30 and returning at 15h15 This includes a buffet lunch, with soft drinks, beer and wine. Livingstone City and Museum Tour This museum is the oldest and largest of all the national museums in Zambia, managed by the National Museums Board of Zambia. It houses the most comprehensive memorabilia of Dr. Livingstone, including authentic maps and personal effects and diaries in the Livingstone section. It provides insight into the cultural heritage and history of Zambia and the region in its Archaeology gallery (human evolution and cultural development of the Zambian people), the Ethnographic and Art galleries (exhibits of the different cultures of Zambia), the History gallery (the story of the Bantu people who migrated from the north of Zambia, up to the time Zambia got it's independence). Outside the museum is a monument to the explorer. Overnight Victoria Falls Hotel Dinner, Bed and Breakfast Basis Read more
