On arrival at Victoria Falls International airport guests will be welcomed by an Agents Africa representative and transferred to Imbabala. En-route enjoy a guided tour of the falls.
'It’s a truly awe-inspiring experience – the sight, the sound, the smell; the humbling feeling that here indeed is
Nature’s Supreme Masterpiece. No photograph can begin to depict the reality…and nothing prepares you for your first sight.'
The Victoria Falls is one of the 7 natural wonders of the world and is arguably the greatest waterfall in the world. David Livingstone was the first European to visit the Falls and named it after Queen Victoria. The local name is perhaps more descriptive - Mosi oa Tunya (meaning the Smoke that Thunders). This spectacle occurs when the tranquil expanse of the Zambezi River plunges over a chasm 1708 metres wide and 103 metres deep, creating a shower of spray and a deafening noise. When in full flood (February to May), 550 million litres of water per minute, tumble over the Falls into a series of narrow gorges for approximately 8Km. The tour lasts approximately 1.5 hours, guided by a courier through the Rainforest along a 1.7Km ramble. After a briefing and explanation of the Falls, the guide walks with the guests along the path, stopping at the numerous viewpoints to gaze at the Falls.
Imbabala is seventy kilometers from Victoria Falls on a good paved road, passing through Zambezi National park and Matetsi Safari Area. Imbabala Zambezi Safari Lodge is an unspoiled wilderness experience, on the banks of the Zambezi, where guests rapidly become friends. Imbabala was originally built in 1987 and first opened in 1988. Despite being completely refurbished over the years, Imbabala is still a small unpretentious safari camp offering a true "African Safari Experience".
The Imbabala main lodge is a charming thatched structure, consisting of a lounge, dining room and bar area. This offers fantastic views of both the river and a nearby waterhole, which attracts game throughout the year. A swimming pool and al fresco eating area nestle under ancient trees. There are no fences to prevent animal movement, so expect to see game and wonderful birdlife along the river bank as well as in and around the Lodge.
Imbabala Zambezi Safari Lodge offers exclusive accommodation for only 20 guests in 9 individual stone and thatch lodges with en-suite facilities. Each lodge is beautifully positioned with spacious verandas opening onto sweeping views of the Zambezi River.
Experienced guides are on hand for all activities which center around tracking game on morning, afternoon and night game drives in open 4x4 safari vehicles. Exploring the Zambezi River by boat affords guests an exclusive river experience. Bird-watching is exceptional, as birdlife is prolific and varied, ranging from water birds to shy forest dwellers.
