On arrival at Victoria Falls International airport guests will be welcomed by an Agents Africa representative and transferred by road to Hwange Bush Camp. The transfer by road is initially one hundred kilometers on a good paved road through rural Zimbabwe. Guests leave their air conditioned mini van at Mbala gate, where they will be collected by an open game viewing vehicle for their transfer to Hwange Bush Camp. The remaining sixty kilometers is mostly through Hwange National Park, affording guests plenty of wildlife sightings and is in essence a game drive. Situated in the hilly countryside adjacent to Deteema Dam This area offers guests scenic diversity with huge open grass lands, natural springs and pumped water points. Please note this is merely a guide line, as the guide in camp will dictate the activities, mostly in response to what is happening on the ground at that stage. The wake up call beckons before dawn, with a tea and coffee delivered to your tent. A wonderful way to start the day, joining the dawn chorus of the African bush as it begins to awaken. Maybe the distant roar of a lion, searching for his pride or the eerie whoop of a hyena returning from it's nocturnal wanderings, the harsh 'kwaar' as a francolin descends from the safety of it's nocturnal perch, the gentle cooing of a turtle dove celebrating the dawn. A moment to savor and reflect on the privilege of being part of this tremendous landscape. A continental breakfast served around the fire precedes departure on the days activities. Activities are fluid and consist of a mix between game drives, walks and spending time at water holes. It might start as a drive from camp but rapidly change to a walk as tracks of a buffalo herd or the resident pride of lions are spotted, and need to be further investigated on foot.. The thrill of being on foot tracking lions can only be described first hand. Whatever you see, your guide will be a fountain of information and make the outdoors come alive with his explanations and interpretations of the environment you are in. Lunch in camp will be a culinary delight, followed by a well earned siesta. Afternoon tea with savory and sweet snacks is a fitting way to prepare for the afternoon adventures. An afternoon game drive or walk to Deteema Dam is a great way to spend the last hours of the day. In the dry season, this body of water is the only thirst quenching sustenance for miles around for wildlife. No matter how you get there it is difficult to beat a G & T in hand, watching the procession of wildlife come and go. Today you say farewell to Hwange Bush Camp, your journey in an open game viewing vehicle takes you through the heart of Hwange National Park, travelling south to Somalisa Expeditions. At Hwange Main Camp (National Parks Headquarters), which is a three to four hour game drive from Hwange Bush Camp you rendezvous with your Somalisa Expeditions guide. Main Camp to Somalisa Expeditions is a sixty kilometer game drive, and takes two to three hours.
