This delightful camp lies alongside the Maunachira River which flows through Xakanaxa Lagoon within the world renowned Moremi Game Reserve, Okuti is built amidst the wilderness of one of Botswana’s prime game viewing regions. Refurbishment of Okuti took place at the beginning of 2014 and draws its influence from water which flows in front of the camp, with its abundant birdlife, fish and sandy river banks, it remains an oasis of serenity and peacefulness.Okuti comprises of five twin-bedded mosasa ( ancient tribal word for house of reeds), each with en-suite bathrooms, indoor and outdoor shower, hot and cold running water and flush toilet. The honeymoon unit features a double bed, bathtub, indoor and outdoor shower. An additional two family units consist of two bedrooms which share spacious bathroom facilities – ideal for families in this child-friendly camp.Okuti’s spacious curved mosasas are located on raised teak decks with river views.Situated in the heart of the world-renowned Moremi Game Reserve, guests can experience unhindered views in specially-designed safari vehicles. A hidden jewel on the Xudum River, Kanana is located in the southwest of the Okavango Delta. The area encompasses a necklace of islands dotted with palms, figs, ebony and knobthorn, and is home to a myriad of birds, plants and animals. The nature of the habitat means it is the perfect place to experience the diversity of species found within the Okavango Delta. Guests are accommodated in seven spacious twin and double-bedded safari tents and one family tent, each with en-suite bathrooms with shower, hot and cold running water and flush toilet. The annual floods transform parts of this concession into a true water paradise, offering guests the best of both worlds. At certain times of the year guests may actually enjoy the breathtaking spectacle of the water visibly rising around the camp’s raised teak decks. Experience magnificent game sightings during drives as well as the unique experience of exploring the delta’s beautiful waterways by boat. There is also a Sleep Out Deck that offers guests the opportunity to spend the night under the splendid African night sky. Situated in the Kanana Concession, the focus of activities at Kanana varies with the rising and falling levels of the Okavango Delta. Activities include morning and late afternoon game drives in open safari vehicles, with afternoon game drives often continuing into the evening. Alternatively you may explore the crystal clear waterways by Mokoro or motorboat, and enjoy the magnificent variety of birds, plant and reptile species found in the area. Nestled on a lush palm island in the heart of the northern Okavango Delta, Shinde is an intimate, classic camp located on the edge of Shinde Lagoon, which simply teems with animal and birdlife. The camps unique main area comprises a multi-tiered dining room and lounge which is set under canvas under the shade of ebony and mangosteen trees. Shinde was refurbished in 2015. The elegance and historical charm of the iconic Shinde camp has been enhanced by enlarging the eight classic safari guest tents to incorporate a spacious bathroom with a large walk in shower and luxurious fittings. The larger bedroom with new linen and furniture in tasteful colours provide the perfect retreat. Wide sliding doors leading onto the extended front decks afford breath-taking views over the open floodplains or the mysterious waterways of the Delta. Accommodation is generally twin share on comfortable three quarter beds, however double accommodation is available on request. Courtesy of its location Shinde can offer both water and land activities year round. Motorboats or Mokoro provide a chance to experience the incredible bird, plant and reptile species found in the aquatic habitat of the Okavango Delta. I have traveled many places and spent several years in Africa. It is a place that draws me back time and time again. Jamie's experience and planning we were able to watch the African sun set with a leopard, sit and watch painted dogs and their pups hunting and playing and an elephant swim across the Chobe River. It was great to stay at 2 different lodges at Kwandwe and being ushered off to our first game drive before checking into our lodges was more than welcome. Despite the unexpectedly cooler weather, the wildlife at the reserve was remarkable. The transfer from Zambia to the Elephant Camp was seamless and in addition to the beautiful Vic Falls, the morning walk with Sylvester, the cheetah, was truly amazing. Botswana definitely provided much warmer weather and the wildlife there was very special. It's hard for me to settle back into my life at home after such an exhilarating trip through East Africa! Our group was ideal size of 8 and a mixture of well experienced Africa travelers and first timers. The pre-departure information was so good the newbies were just as prepared as the others. Everything ran like clockwork, the camp staff and drivers were fantastic, catering to all our needs with a smile, and their own personal experience and knowledge was clearly extensive. The vehicles were well equipped with charging facilities, fridges and they were water tight (a consideration if you are traveling in rainy seasons...). The timing of the trip was perfect as the game viewing far out stripped our expectations.
