Kruger & Sabi Sands - 5 Nights

This is an affordable lodge 6 night safari that gives you the best of both the Kruger National Park and the private reserve experience of the Sabi Sands. Ideal as a first time on Safari in Southern Africa with a tight budget.

Arrival - Fly Johannesburg to Kruger

Arrive in Johannesburg and make you way to the domestic terminal for your flight to Kruger International Airport, where you will be collected and road transferred to your lodge inside the National Park. Lukimbi Safari Lodge is a five Star lodge situated in the easily accessible southern portion of the Kruger National Park, on the 15 000 hectare Lwakahle concession. The lodge features carved plaster panels showing intricate mystical creatures and African patterns, in a subtle yet extremely decorative way. Game drives, with informative Rangers, are done on approximately 123 kilometres of private roads in open Landrovers. Alternatively, guests can take guided walks or relax in the magnificent lodge. The lodge has 14 luxury and two ultra luxury suites. Each suite has indoor and outdoor showers, bathroom en-suite, tea and coffee facilities, safes and a private deck overlooking the river and adjacent plains. The luxury suites have private splash pools. The lodge has full conference facilities, a private chapel, a gym and a library. The height of the lodge above the river provides viewing points with a feeling of safety. The raised walkways provide guests with clear and easy access to their suites. Their outstanding cuisine is served in various exciting venues, including the dining room, on open decks, in the bush or in the unusual boma. Lukimbi Safari Lodge works in close co operation with the Kruger National Park with regards to various issues surrounding the concession. This includes the monitoring the breeding of ground hornbills on the concession and the recycling of water for use in the gardens. They also support local business people through their purchase of handmade soaps, vegetables and transport for staff. Conservation Safari Company recommends Lukimbi as a great destination to see a wider perspective of the Kruger National Park, especially the southern region where it is located, which is different to the west and central parts where most other private reserves and concessions are. It is a great lodge to combine with those in the Sabi Sands and Timbavati or other concessions in the national park. Rates include luxury accommodation in en-suite, air-conditioned suites, 3 full meals per day, all teas and coffees, afternoon tea, 2 game drives daily in open landrovers and a safari walk. Read more

Safari - Kruger National Park

A typical day on safari begins as dawn breaks over the African bush, a gentle tap on your door will wake you to the delights of a new day. Your ranger will discuss what you hope to see that day over fragrant tea or coffee and morning biscuits or rusks. Phinda Private Game Reserve is home to all of the Big Five, but is particularly well known for its cheetah and rhino. Venture out in search of big cats and large mammals. Return to your lodge for a delicious breakfast. If you wish, you can walk off your breakfast on a short walk near your lodge, accompanied by your ranger, who will share his insight into the smaller animals and vegetation in the area, before returning in time for lunch. Your evening drive begins in the late afternoon and lasts until after dark, when spotlights are used for a glimpse into the nocturnal bush life. Drive down to one of the reserve's dams to watch the animals drink and bathe or watch out for predators getting ready for the hunt. Enjoy sundowners in a scenic location as the sun slowly sinks beneath the horizon. Return to your lodge for a mouthwatering dinner beneath the magnificent African sky. Read more

Overall the trip went without a hitch from transfers, in country flights, to lodges and car rentals. The travel team was on top of our schedule and communicated with us and vice versa as issues arose and insured that things were smooth. They were attentive to our overall needs and style of travel. They found lodges and attraction sites that really fit us and there was always other suggestions for us to consider. Read more

Jamie is amazing. His attention to detail, time taken to consult with me on my likes/dislikes, what I'm looking for in the African experience is exemplary. He had to bare with my numerous changes, questions, clarifications... at all times he was there to offer advice, clarity and guidance. He is a very patient man. Every sector was arranged with such care and thought that I for the first time didn't have to think of anything. Jamie had thought of it all! Read more
