Upon arrival and after having collected your luggage at the airport of Yogyakarta, you will be welcomed by your Javanese tour guide and driver, and followed by a direct transfer to the hotel. HIGHLIGHTS: PRAMBANAN TEMPLE VALLEY , PALACE OF THE SULTAN and CITY TOUR After breakfast you will be picked up by the guide at the hotel. Afterwards visit the famed Hindu temple complex of Prambanan, the biggest Hindu-Javanese complex in Indonesia. The temples were built around 850 B.C. After completion the complex was abandoned and it started decaying. It wasn’t until 1900 that the temples were excavated after which a long period of reconstruction began. The complex consists of three big main temples, each dedicated to the well-known Hindu Gods: Shiva, Brahma and Visnu. This marvelous site has been recognized by UNESCO as world heritage. There will be plenty of time to admire the complex under the guidance of a local guide. Afterwards we have lunch (not included) in the neighborhood and return to Jogjakarta to visit the eclectic Sultans Palace. The Keraton Palace is not only home to the king and his family, but also becomes the flame guard of Javanese culture. In this place you can learn from seeing directly on how culture is still preserved, even in this modern world. Afterwards we visit some other high lights of this vibrant cultural city OPTIONAL INSPIRATION; PRAMBANAN TEMPLE VALLEY BY BYCICLE. Before bringing a visit to the fabulous temple site, we discover and explore the valley by bicycle, for approximately 2 hours, and under guiding of a professional cycling guide. YOGYAKARTA & BOROBUDUR

HIGHLIGHT: BOROBUDUR After breakfast the time has come to visit one of the absolute highlights of Java: the impressive Buddhist Borobudur Temple, situated in the midst of a green valley at the foot of the active Merapi Volcano. Under guidance of a local guide we have enough time to admire this cultural wonder. Borobudur was constructed between 750 – 850 as a large stupa. The base of this stupa is 123 by 123 meter and it has nine levels: the bottom six levels are square and the three upper levels are round. The nine levels depict the Buddhist cosmos. The highest level contains 72 small stupas, built around one central stupa. This major stupa symbolizes nirvana. The smaller stupas represent – from bottom till top – the Buddhist road to nirvana. UNESCO has recognized Borobudur as world heritage. Afterwards we go and explore the surrounding villages, and discover the daily life of the villagers, which not only enrich you culturally but also personally. BROMO to KALIBARU

HIGHLIGHT: BROMO SUNRISE TOUR Expedition to another great highlight: the active Bromo Volcano. Very early wake-up call, followed by some coffee or tea to start the expedition with Jeeps or minivans. First stop is at the top of the Penenjakan Mountain (2770mtrs) to await the magnificent sunrise and enjoy the wonderful views. Afterwards we continue to the Bromo Volcano through the sea of sand and continue on foot or by horse (optional) to the ‘stairway of heaven’. 296 steps bring you to the rim of the volcano crater. Plenty of time is available to enjoy this unique visit to the volcano. After the Bromo expedition we continue to the plantation village of Kalibaru, where you enjoy a free afternoon to explore a bit of the city on your own or just enjoy the hotel facilities. Here you say goodbye to your Javanese guide and driver. NOTE: Please bring some warm clothing to wear in the morning. In the early morning we can face temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius.
