Today at the appropriate time an EcoCircuitos representative will be meet you at the Tocumen International Airport to assist and transfer you to your hotel located in Panama City. You will also receive an EcoCircuitos information kit. Upon your arrival to your hotel please check in. Once you arrive to Tocumen International Airport you will first go through immigration, then you will proceed to pick up your luggage. After you have your luggage you will need to clear customs and agriculture, you will pass your all your luggage through an x-ray machine. Then you will proceed to exit the area, once you pass through the exit door you can go either to the right or the left. 1 night in Panama City

After breakfast your EcoCircuitos guide will meet you in the lobby of your hotel to begin your journey to the Soberania National Park. You will leave the Panama City limits, buildings will slowly be replaced by secondary and primary rain forest. You will pass the former Fort Clayton, Miraflores Locks before entering the Park. This will be approximately a 45 minute drive to the Soberania National Park to start a hiking tour on one of the many trails that will take us through the lush rain forest. Along the way, our naturalist guide will help you keeping your eyes out for Green iguanas, three toed sloths, crocodile, ospreys, Snail kite, Keel-billed toucan and other wildlife endemic to the area, like the Mantled Howler Monkey, White-faced Capuchin, Central American Spider Monkey, and Geoffrey’s Tamarin. After that you will visit the Rain Forest Discovery Centre, where you will learn more about the Panamanian rain forests´ secrets. Climb the 30-metres high rain forest tower and enjoy an exclusive wine and cheese tasting over the treetops, while observing the numerous species of humming birds in the area. At the appropriate time you will be transferred to the Domestic Airport in Albrook for your flight to David (approximately 1 hour flight time), located in the Chiriquí Province west of Panama City. You will be met by an EcoCircuitos representative that will transfer you to the town of Volcan located to the west of Volcano Baru. Before beginning the next part of your adventure you have lunch at a local gourmet restaurant, Cerro Brujo where the Panamanian chef Patricia Miranda will cook a delicious meal. After lunch you will be met by your local host to begin your journey to Mount Totumas, it will take you at least 2 hours to reach your destination nestled in the middle of a 400 acre private reserve First you will proceed on paved road to a windy dirt road crossing small streams until the final kilometers where you will go up a 4WD road to reach your destination. Admire the views from road and keep your eyes out for wildlife. Once you arrive you will learn about the lodge and go for a short afternoon hike to get oriented with the reserve. Read more

Enjoy the day with a hiking adventure. Mount Totumas Cloud Forest is a 400 acre reserve bordering the La Amistad National Park. Join a tour of your choice to one of the 8 marked trails through the reserve with access into the adjacent national park, which is Central America’s largest protected mountain wilderness area. In the Mount Totumas Cloud Forest Reserve you can look out for keystone species such as Resplendent Quetzals, Three Wattled Bellbirds, Baird’s Tapir, Mantled Howler Monkey, Black and Crested Guan, White-Faced Capuchin, spider monkeys, mountain lions, ocelots and even Jaguars have been spotted in the national park.
