The program includes visits to some of the most beautiful and interesting from historical and artistic point of view sights and museums: Main Museum Complex of the Hermitage as well as its famous Treasury where on display are luxurious objects which used to belong to the Russian Royal family; one of the former summer palaces of the Russian Roayl family - Catherine Palace in Tsarskoye Selo; elegant architectural ensembles of the historic city centre.
Upon arrival in St.Petersburg, our driver will pick you up at the airport and transfer you to the MOSKVA Hotel for check-in (Please note! Regular check-in starts at 14:00 MSK). During your memorable St. Petersburg tour guided by our professional English speaking guide you will see the most remarkable architectural ensembles and monuments of the Historic Centre of St.Petersburg included in UNESCO World Heritage List: Palace Square and Winter Palace, Spit of the Vassilievsky Island, University Embankmant, Main Building of the State St.Petersburg University, Admiralty, Senat Square, Monument to Peter the Great (Bronze Horseman), St.Isaak's Cathedral and St.Isaac's Square, Field of Mars and Summer Gardens, Cruiser Aurora, Smolny Cathedral. You will have several photo breaks and visit magnificent Church of Our Savior on the Spilled Blood. This Church was built between 1883 and 1907 on the site where Emperor Alexander II was fatally wounded in March 1881. The interior was designed by some of the most celebrated Russian artists of the day. The walls and ceilings inside the Church are completely covered in intricately detailed mosaics - over 7500 square meters of it. Your St. Petersburg tour continues in the Nevsky prospect - one of the most famous streets in Russia. Saint Petersburg's main shops and businesses are located on and around this central thoroughfare, where a diverse culinary choice of restaurants, cafes and bars to suit all tastes and pockets is available. They match any European City for quality and atmosphere. Nevsky Prospekt's architecture is in spirit with the Champs-Elysées and it rivals the best of Amsterdam, Rome and Venice. "Step into it, and you step into a fairground," wrote Nikolai Gogol. Also your St. Petersburg tour includes a visit to the well-known and loved Eliseevsky Store – a store which was founded by and used to belong to the Merchants Eliseeevs. The store combines a gastronome, a café and two restaurants, and features extraordinary interior and ambiance as well as a very attractive shop window. After saying “good bye” to your guide you can either return to the hotel by metro or settle down for dinner at one of the restaurants in the Nevsky prospect, but please do not stay out too late, you have to be fit for your Grand Hermitage Tour scheduled for the next day. Founded in 1764 by the Russian empress Catherine the Great, the State Hermitage Museum is one of the oldest and largest art galleries in the world. It houses more than 2.7 million exhibits. During the Hermitage tour you will visit 4 buildings of the Main Museum Complex: the Winter Palace, Small Hermitage, Old Hermitage and New Hermitage; and see works by Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Roden, Rembrandt, Rubens, etc. You will visit Diamond Room of the Hermitage Treasure Gallery. The exhibition features priceless gems and luxurious objects which used to belong to the Romanov family and diplomatic gifts to Russian court. You will see the famous showcase boasting two horse harnesses lavishly decorated with precious stones, as well as exquisite decorations created by Carl Faberge. After your Grand Hermitage tour have been completed your car will take you back to the hotel. Alternatively you can either stay in the Hermitage, if you need more time in the museum, or take a nice walk, for example, to the famous Bronze Horseman and maybe visit magnificent St.Isaac’s Cathedral. Located 29 km south of St.Petersburg. Tsarskoye selo became the official summer royal residence in the middle of the 18th century. Catherine palace - a splendid example of the Russian Baroque style - is a stunning royal retreat well-known the world over. The splendor of the palace is magnified by the beautiful park surrounding it. During the tour of the palace you will see elegant state rooms as well as the famous Amber Room. Your guide and car will be at your disposal till 19:00. So, you can either explore Pushkin & nearby Pavlovsk or return to St.Petersburg. Jeg synes du skal vide, at vi har haft en fantastisk ferie i Sankt Petersborg. Hotellet lå et godt sted, havde gode store værelser og fin morgenmad. Vores guide Tanja var altid til tiden, godt forberedt og meget vidende og samtidig rigtig rar. Vores største positive overraskelse var dog almindelige russers hjælpsomhed og venlighed, som vi blev mødt af dagligt på gader og i metroen.
