During the city tour you will visit the Fabergé Museum, located in one of the most beautiful palaces in St. Petersburg - the Shuvalov Palace on the Fontanka River. The museum's collection contains the world's largest collection of works by Carl Fabergé, including nine of the famous Imperial Easter Eggs, regarded not only as the finest jeweled works of art, but also as unique historical artifacts. Today you will continue the St. Petersburg tour with a trip to Peterhof, located on the Gulf of Finland coast and visit one of the most beautiful Imperial Palaces: Grand Peterhof Palace. The Grand Palace in Peterhof was designed to be the centerpiece of Peter the Great's "Russian Versaille". The Grand Palace is as beautiful on the inside as it is on the outside. Throughout the 18th and 19th centuries, the finest Russian and West European architects worked on the facades and the interior decor. Today the Grand Palace is a unique museum of history and art. During the tour of the palace you will see lavish and sumptuous palace interiors: incredibly ornate Grand Staircase, richly gilded Ballroom, splendid Throne Room featuring particularly fine parquet floor, Oriental Chinese Rooms, the Picture Gallery with 368 paintings by Pietro Antonio Rotari, royal family’s private quarters furnished in grand 19th century style, charmingly simple Oak Study of Peter the Great decorated with carved panels by Nicolas Pineau and the Imperial bedchamber. A trip to Peterhof will be followed by the visit to the magnificent Yusupov Palace - one of the two surviving St. Petersburg residences of the monumentally wealthy Yusupov family. The palace is perhaps most famous as the scene of the assassination of Grigory Rasputin. It is also one of the few aristocratic homes in the city to have retained many of its original interiors. The Yusupov Palace is a unique 18th-20th century architectural ensemble and a cultural and heritage site of federal significance acclaimed as the "Encyclopedia" of St. Petersburg aristocratic interior. The palace features authentic State rooms, Art Gallery halls, a miniature Home Theater and the Yusupovs family luxurious Living quarters that radiate warmth and charm of their former owners even today.
