Day One: Entebbe – Bwindi: Travel Time: 10 hrs The Genesis Our Company Guide will meet you at on arrival and transfer you to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. An early morning start from Entebbe takes you southwest and across the Equator. You drive through savannah grasslands seeing banana plantations and herds of Ankole cattle with their incredibly long curving horns. Day Two: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest-Gorilla Trekking After an early breakfast and a briefing by a ranger guide; enter the gorilla sanctuary for your adventure. The beauty of this rain forest is spectacular. The area offers dramatic steeply forested landscape and is incredibly dense, but crisscrossed by numerous animal trails allowing access to tourists. Day Three: Lake Bunyonyi Relaxed boat ride After breakfast transfer to Lake Bunyonyi. Believed to be the second deepest lake in Africa, Lake Bunyonyi is a body of water in southwestern Uganda near the Rwandan border, and one of the country’s top natural treasures. And, at 1,962m above sea level, the lake enjoys moderate temperatures year round, cool in both the mornings and evenings. Lake Bunyonyi is framed by lush, green-terraced hills that reach a height of 2,200-2,478m, but it’s the 29 islands of various shapes and sizes scattered across the water that make it most magical — we could’ve admired them all day. It’s a sight that reinvents itself every hour or two with the ever-changing climate and direction of the sun. In the early morning, the islands weave through cotton candy-like streams of mist and, in the afternoon, they’re bathed in the warm glow of the sun. Later, they’re silhouetted against a dim sky as evening approaches. One day the islands vanished from sight completely, hidden under a blanket of clouds, but it only took an hour to see them emerge once more. The trip of a lifetime! We just returned from 10 days Safari and it was just wonderful. Uganda had all the activities we wished for and Home To Africa Tours & Travel had an affordable itinerary that did not disappoint. Elias and Paul met us at the airport and made sure we were looked after and comfortable for the entire trip. Paul is an excellent and knowledgeable guide and very good at spotting animals. We saw the big five animals and so many more and enjoyed multiple game drives and boat rides. Each of the five national parks we visited had their own atmosphere and attributes and we loved them all. This itinerary required many hours of road travel but there was so much to see while riding through the countryside. It was endlessly interesting to see the trading centers, homes, people, and especially the friendly children of Uganda. We particularly enjoyed the game drives and were amazed at all the animal sightings. Our lodgings were comfortable with good food and we did not have to worry about a thing as Paul is an experienced guide and led us along on a trip we will never forget. Home To Africa Tours arranged the next leg of our trip to Victoria Falls which was a sight to see and those plans all fell into place without a hitch. My mind is still so full from all the things I learned on this trip and I have over 300 photos to enjoy. Overall we were very happy with our family vacation with Home to Africa tours and travel. It was planned according to our wishes and we saw, experienced and tasted more than we had ever hoped for (thank you for the unexpected, fantastic birthday and graduation cakes!). The parks, trekking, animals, people, markets, scenery, food and experiences were all wonderful, not to mention the rafting. The lodgings were at times a bit simpler than we'd hoped for but worked out for us anyway. Our guide was very knowledgeable regardless whether it came to animals, history, agriculture, nature, politics, really anything. Unfortunately he was short tempered with little patience and at times put a damper on the atmosphere. All in all we are very happy with our trip to Uganda and have managed to raise a lot of interest from friends and colleagues. Read more
