Arrival at Entebbe International Airport. You will be picked up by our friendly guide and taken to you hotel in either Entebbe Town or kampala depending on the time you arrive.
Today after a breakfast and a short city tour, we leave for Kibale forest - the primate capital of primates. The trip takes you through the countryside arriving at your lodge later that afternoon with a stopover for lunch in the beautiful Fort portal town.
After an early breakfast, you will be transferred for briefing before you start your chimp trek. Your experienced ranger guide will lead you as you hike through the tropical forest for an unforgettable and rewarding experience in search of man’s closest relatives the Chimpanzees. The southern sector of Queen Elizabeth national park known as Ishasha is famous for the tree-climbing lions. The prides of lions in this area climb fig trees to rest after having their meals, and to easily watch their prey because of the high savanna grass. Today we leave for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – the home to half the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. Bwindi impenetrable forest is a UNESCO World Heritage Site hosting numerous tree species, birdlife, primates, mammals, insects etc.
Gorillas are amazing creatures, with so much energy yet gentle therefore commonly known as the gentle giants of Bwindi. The gorilla trek can take anything from 1 hour to several hours depending on where they nested the previous night. Once you locate the gorillas with help of your guide and trackers, you are allowed to stay with them for only one hour. Read more
Lake Mburo national park is a good place to relax after the experience with the massive mountain gorilla in Bwindi impenetrable forest. Arrive in the park that afternoon and take a boat trip on Lake Mburo in the afternoon. Thereafter rest.
This marks the end of your Uganda primates Safari. You start journey to Kampala/Entebbe with a stopover at the Equator for some good photography moments.
A very interesting tour of Rwanda. Exploring Kigali, several genocide memorial centers, local community experiences and a gorilla safari. Very well organized with Peter, our local guide and driver and Miriam, the owner and guide. My wife and I were the whole group, and Miriam and Peter became friends. Kigali is a modern town, and we learned a lot about the genocide in 1994. We would actually like to find out more about the reconciliation afterward. Sharing the daily life of a family in a local village was very interesting, and the gorilla safari was amazing. We had never dreamt of coming so close to them. We were also impressed by the cleanliness all over the country and the beauty of the thousand green hills. Read more
Amazing introduction to Uganda's primate wildlife We spent a week traveling with Kagera Safaris through Uganda in early June. The trip in itself, our encounters with Ugandan wildlife, in particular, the gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and the chimpanzees in Kibale Forest, was stunning. Driving through the ever changing, beautiful landscape and getting in close touch with Ugandans made the experience unique.
