8 DAY UGANDA GORILLAS, CHIMP

On this tour, you will travel to see chimpanzees in Kibale Forest; wildlife and birds in Queen Elizabeth National Park - elephant, lion, buffalo, hippo, leopard; and gorillas in Bwindi. Kibale Forest has the highest number of primates in Africa - thirteen species in all, including red, black and white colobus, blue monkeys and baboons and a large number of chimpanzees. A forest walk provides a high possibility of seeing and hearing and seeing chimps, birds and other primates playing around through the forest. An excursion to Bigodi wetland gives the opportunity of seeing the unusual birds and other primates which live around the swamp. Continue to Queen Elizabeth National Park (QE), below the famous Rwenzori mountains, an African savannah park, consisting of plain surroundings. The launch trip along the Kazinga Channel is especially rewarding for viewing hippo, buffalo, elephant and a large host of birds amounting to over 500 species! The beautiful steeply forested Kyambura Gorge nearby, is home not only to chimpanzees but also the red-tailed monkey, black and white colobus and many bird species. The magnificent Queen Elizabeth National Park, in the western arm of the Great East African Rift Valley, is centred around Lake Edward and Lake George. The two lakes are linked by the Kazinga channel, a waterway rich in wildlife and birds. The Rwenzori Mountains act as a majestic backdrop to the park’s variety of habitats - tropical forest, green meadows, savannah, crater lakes and swamps. Continue further West to track one of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, Rushaga or Mgahinga Gorilla families of Uganda – all these are the edge of the western rift valley. The forest is also rich in birds, chimps, monkeys and butterflies. Bwindi is one of the largest natural forests in East Africa, with both montane and lowland forest. About half of the world's population of mountain gorillas - about 350 animals - are found in Bwindi. Other activities include volcano climbing, guided nature walk in the forest for primates, birds and butterflies or enjoy the breathtaking landscape! Return to Kampala via Lake Mburo Park in Mbarara for unusual wildlife. This overnight stop is also necessary to break the long journey from Bwindi. For all categories of accommodation, all drinks (except bottled water in vehicle) are excluded in the safari cost and clients are to pay for them direct to the hotels/Camps / Lodges. Clients could choose to fly out the following day in cases where there are no flights for their departure on the last day of the itinerary. A supplement for the extra night will be required.
