Transfer from Puerto Natales to Serrano

A private transfer will pick you up around 7:30AM from your accommodation in Puerto Natales where we will take a short transfer to Puerto Bories dock. From here, we will cross the Last Hope Sound along a 10-minute boat ride, coming face-to-face with the steeply-descending Serrano Glacier at the foot of Mount Balmaceda (2148 m). We’ll take a short walk up to the glacier where we’ll board a 4 hour boat ride taking us along the Serrano River, bound for our camp in Chile Nativo Riverside Domes. Round trip hike of the French Valley

After breakfast, our transfer will take us to Pudeto, where we’ll cross Lake Pehoe via catamaran to the starting point of our trek to the French Valley, a spectacular natural basin surrounded by peaks and hanging glaciers. We start by walking around Paine Grande, the highest peak in Torres del Paine, through native Patagonian firebush and evergreen beech forests. At the suspension bridge over the French River, the arresting hanging glaciers atop the valley will come into sight. From here, we’ll walk for another hour, ascending 300 meters through a dreamlike Japanese garden landscape before arriving at the Valley viewpoint. At the lookout, we’ll stop to take in the French Valley’s dramatic peaks and landscapes and re-energize with a good lunch. On the return, we hike along the same path back to take the catamaran to cross Pehoe Lake, followed by a private transfer back to our domes for the evening. Read more

Round trip hike to Las Torres Lookout

Today begins with a transfer across the National Park to the starting point for the trek to the three Towers lookout. Your hike begins with an hour’s ascent, following the Ascencio River into the Ascencio Valley. Here we’ll stop to observe how the valley’s beauty unfolds with rich beech forests, glaciers and waterfalls. Past this lookout point, we continue uphill - this time ascending a gigantic terminal moraine (a ridge formed at a glacier’s end point) where we’ll be rewarded by the arresting sight of the Towers themselves. At this lookout point 900 meters above sea level, we’ll rest, take photos and have lunch. Our descent follows the same path back to a private transfer which takes us back to Puerto Natales. Puerto Natales - Resi fjord in Kawésqar

From your hotel, you will be picked up in a private transfer at 10:00AM followed by a 5 minute boat ride to Antonio Varas Peninsula across the Señoret Channel. We continue by vehicle for 1 hour through a gravel road to Estancia Mercedes, where we take our fast boat Explorador IV and navigate for one more hour until we reach the end of the Resi fjord in the Kawésqar National Park. Here we arrive at our first campsite for the evening armed with expedition tents for the night, and a cozy Dome as shelter, kitchen and dining room for us while we are in the camp. During the navigation it is possible to spot seals, dolphins, penguins, cormorants, condors, and other species. We will enjoy lunch when we arrive to camp and later, we’ll go trekking off trail for about 2 hours in the surrounding area to admire and explore the beauty from a high viewpoint. We finish the day in Camp Resi with a tasty dinner in our dome. Read more

1 Night in Resi Camp

Thunder Pass - Mountains Fjord

After breakfast we begin our trekking circuit. We travel 8 kilometers bush walking through a beautiful valley characterized by evergreen forests, waterfalls, peatland, erratic rocks and moraines colonized by colorful lichens and mosses. We trek for about 4 hours by imposing mountains with whimsical shapes until we arrive to the Thunder Lagoon, surrounded by huge rock walls that look like an amphitheater. The powerful action of a gone glacier has transformed one of these rock walls into a natural pass that makes it possible to go up through terraces over the Thunder Pass to the Mountains Fjord. From the pass, it's possible to see the summits covered by ice that belong to the Sarmiento Mountain Range. We will enjoy our lunch along the way with a nice view. We continue through moraines and erratic blocks as we pass by two beautiful lagoons until we finally have a clear view of the entire fjord that seems tiny surrounded by huge mountains and glaciers in the horizon. From here, the terrain is more rocky and solid than the first section, making it easier to trek down towards our campsite Kiara, where we have expedition tents for the night and a Dome with an exclusive panoramic view to enjoy yet another rich dinner. We will be at sea level, facing the very active Kiara glacier, making it very possible to hear and watch ice avalanches breaking off. Read more

1 Night Camp Kiara

Paredes, Alsina, Kiara, Hermann & Bernal

We begin the day with a good breakfast. Then we start trekking from the camp heading to the north of the fjord for 5 kilometers off trail by rock blocks, evergreen forest, peatland and some streams which we'll have to cross. It will take us about 2 hours to arrive to a beautiful beach with a glacier in the background, a live postcard. Here we go uphill until we gain about 300 meters of elevation, where we'll get an incredible panoramic view of the glaciers Alsina and Paredes, both flowing down from the icy summits of the Sarmiento mountain range till the fjord itself. Here we'll have our lunch with a spectacular view and later, follow the same trail back. In the beach, our boat West Patagonia awaits to navigate us 30 minutes south in the Mountains fjord to Bernal glacier. During the boat ride we'll pass close by the Alsina glacier, getting a better perspective of this beautiful glacier with huge seracs. We disembark on the coast of the Bernal glacier and hike through a particular trail with colorful moraines that cross the pro-glacier lake, allowing us to get close and safe enough to touch its ice. This permits us to watch and understand its movements and changes that it makes in the landscape through the years while you enjoy a drink with its millenary ice. The contrast of colors between the vegetation, the ice, the mountains, and the fjord in the background, makes any picture postcard worthy. After visiting this glacier, we navigate again in our boat West Patagonia 10 more minutes to the remote Huiros bay where we will find our exclusive floating refuge Explorador IV. Here we can enjoy the facilities, a hot shower and a delicious parting dinner. Read more

1 Night Floating Refuge

Alacalufes path - Return to Puerto Natal

After a nice breakfast, we’ll go out for a hike around the Huiros bay to Buena Vista lookout, an awesome hike for a final glimpse of the amazing view of the fjord, mountains, glaciers, and bay. We begin the return to Puerto Natales trekking by the Indian Pass known as the Alacalufes path, named after the canoeist ancestors Kaweshqar who inhabited all the fjord lands in the last 5,000 years and used this pass to connect the Mountains fjord with Resi fjord. We continue 1km to reach the Acantilados lagoon, incased between huge rock walls where we must travel via boat. After a short 5 minute navigation to get to the other side, we continue hiking 20 more minutes to reach Resi fjord. Here we are back to the beginning point, so we meet again at our fast boat Explorador IV to navigate one hour to Estancia Mercedes in Antonio Varas peninsula. We eat our lunch on the way and continue until Puerto Natales, finishing this expedition around 15:00 pm, weather conditions permitting. Read more

The trip was all that I had hoped for. Torres del Paine is spectacular and not to be missed. Although I could have done this trip on my own, I wouldn't have learned all that I did, and the boat trip to Grey Glacier wouldn't have been possible. It was a memorable trip! Felipe knew so much about the region and he willingly shared all he knew. Overall, an excellent experience. Torres del Paine is a place not to be missed. Read more

Thank you to Chile Nativo for this awesome and very special trip at Torres del Paine! It was organized perfectly - beginning with Johana, who was always very friendly, helpful when ever there were questions arising prior to the trip or even when urgent support was needed just the night before the trip. I was very thankful and appreciated that a lot! During the trip itself, even though some of the hikes were unexpectedly demanding (but still a joy!), we always had enough time so we didn't need to rush through the park, but enjoy the scenery instead when ever we wanted, and take our time to get from A to B. It is certainly a very special place down there at Torres del Paine, and I'm glad we were able to fully enjoy it's beauty! Read more
