Program of the day: 8-hour walking tour including Moscow metro, Old Arbat street, Moscow Kremlin and the Armoury.
Opened in 1935, Moscow Metro was one of the most extravagant architectural projects, with stations constructed as luxurious “palaces for the people” with their
reflective marble walls, high ceilings and grandiose chandeliers. Interior decoration includes bas-reliefs, friezes, marble and bronze statues, stained-glass windows and countless mosaics made with glass, marble and granite. As of 2016, the Moscow Metro excluding the Moscow Central Circle has 203 stations. Its route length is 339.1 km making it the fifth longest in the world.
Moscow metro will take you to the Arbat Street - a pedestrian street about one kilometer long in the historical centre of Moscow. It is one of the oldest surviving streets of the Russian capital and a prominent part of the Russian history. Arbat is Moscow’s most charming and lively street. As the old bohemian quarter, it is crammed full with cafes and vibrant artistic stalls and independent shops selling traditional gifts, canvases and trinkets with street performers dotted along the busy street. There are all sorts of foods and snacks to try along the way in the many different restaurants.
Next you will proceed to the Kremlin.
