Self guided trip in the city of Tbilisi: Metekhi Church, delight with unforgettable panoramic views over the river Mtkvari and the main attractions of Tbilisi old district, Narikala Fortress - the ancient symbol of the city, Sioni built in 6th-7th CC, synagogue, the only remaining mosque in Tbilisi, etc. Visit Abanotubani sulfur baths. Departure for Mtskheta – an old capital of Iberia kingdom, visit Jvari (Cross) perched on a hill and overlooking the confluence of the Aragvi and Mtkvari rivers. Visit Svetitskhoveli Cathedral ("Life-giving column") - 11th. Shopping of Georgian national handmade souvenirs. On the way of Kazbegi visit Ananuri Castel with picturesque views over Jinvali Reservoir. Cross the legendary Georgian Military Highway, one of the world’s most beautiful roads, through the valleys, ravines and finally over the 2300 meter Cross Pass. Dinner and overnight in Kazbegi. Self guided trip to Gergeti Trinity Church (6 km, 3 hours, difficulty level of hiking is average, the guest can avoid hiking by using 4x4 car for additional cost 30 usd per car with 6 places). Return to Tbilisi.
The route continues to Gori - Joseph Stalin Museum. Visit Uplistsikhe Cave Town. Departure to the West part of Georgia, Kutaisi. According to the poem of Apollonius Rhodes, Kutaisi was the city of King Aeetes, father of Medea.
Visit renovated Bagrati Cathedral – symbol of the city. Visit Gelati Monastery Complex - recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Continue to Batumi.
City tour of Batumi - seaside city on the Black Sea coast, with attractive European and Asian architecture, churches, cobbled streets, active night and day life, especially during the summer months. Visit Gonio Fortress that is home to the grave of the Apostle Matthew. Visit Batumi Botanical Garden. Read more
Return back to Tbilisi by self drive (of course). It is possible to visit Prometheus cave - Karst cave abounds in stalactites and stalagmites decorated with colorful laser lights. In the evening drop off the car to the rental office or we will take it from your hotel for a little supplement.
