Experience the Nile River at its best! This safari adventure takes you to Murchison Falls National Park, which lies at the northern end of the Albertine Rift Valley. Murchison Falls, Uganda's most favourite park is crossed by the Nile – the longest river as it flows north-wards to the Mediterranean. An adrenaline-pumping adventure also awaits you in Jinja with a rafting expedition.
You arrive at Entebbe International Airport, located on a peninsula that juts out into Lake Victoria, where a representative or a driver/guide from Uzuri Uganda Safaris will welcome you to the Pearl of Africa and transfer you to the accommodation option you have chosen for overnight stay.
Having arrived the night before, this morning you depart Entebbe headed to Murchison Falls National Park with a refreshment break at Migyera on the Kampala-Gulu road. The drive to the ferry-crossing should take you some 4-5 hours. After the ferry-crossing on the southern bank, you will check-in at the accommodation option you have chosen and enjoy lunch. After lunch, at 2.00pm, you will head out for the boat launch to the bottom of the powerful Murchison Falls. This three-hour boat cruise climaxes at the edge of the rift valley escarpment at which point you will get off the boat and trek to the top of the falls (wear sports shoes while on the boat for ease of trekking to the top). Having worked up a sweat, once at the top, get bathed in the misty spray that the Nile create as it forces itself into the 7-metre cleft to create the famous Murchison Falls. You are up at 6.00 am and enjoy your breakfast. At 6.30 am after your breakfast, you will drive out for a game drive for a chance to view the glorious day-break from across the open savannah, birds and dotted woodland as well as riverine vegetation along the Nile. Wildlife on the northern bank where you explore this morning has game that includes Rothschild Giraffe, elephant, lions, oribis, waterbucks etc and a variety of savannah woodland birds. At between 11-12 midday, you will return to the lodge for relaxation and lunch. After lunch, relax at the lodge. Later in the evening, you will go out for an evening game drive to view this beautiful park and its inhabitants from a totally different perspective when the sun has gone down. If there is game you missed out on the morning game drive, you might be lucky in the evening. After your drive, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay. Read more
After your breakfast this morning, head to Budongo Forest, part of the Murchison Falls National Park conservation area, for chimpanzee tracking/trekking. Wear your light hiking shoes/boots and long trousers/shirts/blouses. You will be taken on a guided walk in search of the habituated chimpanzee family. Carry your binoculars and also look out for some birds as Budongo is a critical birding place for the Uganda birding safaris. Today, wake up at leisure and enjoy your breakfast. At 8.00 am after breakfast, you check-out and commence your transfer to Jinja - the Source of the Nile. You will have lunch in Kampala en-route before completing your transfer to Jinja 80 kilometres east of Kampala. You arrive Jinja in the mid-afternoon and head to the Source of the Nile for a chance to see the Nile start its 6,000+ kilometres to the Mediterranean. After your visit to the Source of the Nile, you check-in at the accommodation option you have chosen for dinner and overnight. Read more
You can choose between a full day rafting expedition, a half day expedition – whichever fits your adventure spirit. For the 12-year old not to miss out, you can chose a Family rafting expedition. Instead of choosing the wild rapids, you drift swiftly between beautiful forested islands. Children will love floating down the calmer section of the river. Alternatively, if white water rafting does not appeal to your adventure spirit, you can choose to go on a Quad bike safari (not included in price) along trails that have been developed beside the young Nile in Jinja. At the end of this exciting day, you are returned to your hotel in Jinja for rest. Later, you can check-out the Jinja nightlife and sample some of the town's entertainment treats. You wake up at leisure and enjoy your breakfast. After breakfast, you leave Jinja headed to Kampala. In Uganda’s capital, you can visit the Crafts Village along Buganda Road to buy your Uganda souvenir. Check-out the 1000 Cups coffee shop for you to buy some Uganda Arabica coffee. After your shopping trip, you will continue to Entebbe. In Entebbe, you can visit the botanical gardens or one of the numerous beaches where you can enjoy lunch of a whole tilapia fish with French fries. A Magical Uganda experience with Africa Uzuri Safaris” Our family safari holiday to Uganda was handled professionally by Africa Uzuri Safaris and I would recommend them highly. We were met at Entebbe airport by our driver/guide who transferred us to Cassia Lodge in Kampala for an overnight stay. Our safari started in Jinja where we visited the Source of the Nile and later participated in adrenaline-raising activities. The whole experience was indeed magical as the experience of riding quad bikes on dirt trails beside the Nile, to the game safari in the Murchison Falls National Park were all wonderful. We would never have included these attractions on our itinerary if we had chosen to do it ourselves – we would have missed out on some of the fun. Rummaging through Kibale Forest National Park in search of chimpanzees and learning about the other 12 primates that live in this forest, the birdlife and plants was very refreshing. However, nothing prepares you for an encounter with the Mountain Gorillas in Bwindi. We tracked gorillas in Buhoma – the northern sector because of its gentler terrain (on recommendation from Edris) but all I have to say is that the mandatory 1-hour we spent in the presence of the gentle gorillas was the most magical. Thank you for arranging a wonderful safari holiday for my family We contacted Uzuri Safaris to arrange our 8 days safari holiday to Uganda and from the get go, Edris, who we were in communication with at the office throughout the arrangement of the trip was very professional; responding to emails quickly and answering all our queries regarding the trip. Once we got to Uganda, we fell in love with everything – the people, food, wildlife and the scenery and a lot more. Our driver/guide who spoke perfect English and knew all the places we visited like the back of his hand did a wonderful job and we are very grateful to him for making our trip enjoyable. The highlight was the 1-hour we spent with the Mountain Gorillas in Bwindi – what an experience! Amazing week in Uganda We had an incredible time in Uganda this summer, it was very well organised and we felt in safe hands the whole time. We went gorilla trekking in the Bwindi National Park, and on safari in the Queen Elizabeth National Park. Gorilla Trekking was the highlight, definitely something to tick off the bucket list.
