"Long Way Home" is an NGO established in Guatemala some years ago. It is in a charming village called Comalapa. This NGO is dedicated to building a school based on recycled materials, educating the community to learn the importance of recycling and creating self-sustaining environments. In this tour, you will be part of the team of volunteers, helping to build not only the foundations of the school but also the dreams of many children wanting to study
Welcome to Guatemala! We will be waiting for you at La Aurora International Airport and we will transfer you from Guatemala City to Antigua Guatemala. Accommodation in the Hotel you have chosen.
We will have a full day to visit the monumental Antigua Guatemala which was named a World Heritage Site, we will have time to visit museums and make purchases.
We will depart very early from Antigua Guatemala and move to a small village called Chipiacul. A small group of villagers will be waiting for us to share a whole day with us. We will have breakfast with them, enjoy their traditional dances and then we will make a tour in the fields of sowing to know their methods of cultivation and of manufacture of organic fertilizers. We will know how the ancestral textiles are made and we will learn a little about natural medicine. We spend a whole day sharing with them, knowing their way of life and learning their traditions. The place is simply beautiful. This same day at the end we will be transferred to Comalapa to start our volunteering in Long Way Home. Upon arrival, we will be received and located in our lodging. We will get up very early to go to the workplace, meet the team and learn about ecological and self-sustainable construction. We will comply with a work schedule, performing the attributions assigned to us and sharing with other travelers who come to enjoy this experience. We will have special activities to share with the community and at night special activities to share with other volunteers. It will be 4 whole days that we will have to know everything about this incredible project of self-sustainability. Read more
Day 4 at Long Way Home. At noon, after a farewell to the Long Way Home team, we will be transferred to Antigua Guatemala to enjoy our last afternoon in this magical city.
This day is the end of this incredible adventure and we will be transferred from Antigua Guatemala to the "La Aurora" Airport in Guatemala City.
