We travel along the internationally famous Garden Route, so-named because of its grand forests and stunning stretches of coastline, full of great accommodation, great cuisine. A chance to spot whales and other marine life (especially around the months of October). We spend the afternoon exploring the region's Game Reserve, searching for the Big 5 and other magnificent wildlife. Read more

Albertinia | 1 Night

Enjoying an early morning game drive searching for animals, we return to the lodge for a hearty buffet breakfast. Following this we pack up and head off a short distance along the scenic coastal route to arrive in Knysna. We check into our accommodation for the evening, and then head out into town for an afternoon of optional activities. Knysna boasts many attractions; for the more active from Mountain Biking, to Elephant interaction, other wildlife sanctuaries, hikes in the forest. For the leisurely, boat cruises, wining and dining, walks through the city streets enjoying the many shops and galleries on display. Lunch will be light and for own expense. We enjoy dinner in the evening at one of the many fine dining places (for own expense). Read more

Knysna | 1 Night

We take a trip across the Cape Fold Mountains, with some of the most scenic mountain passes in the country. Explore the Little Karoo, a more arid but nonetheless spectacular region famous for unique wine farms, ostriches, an abundance of animals (some of the Big Five), and the special Cango Caves.

Oudtshoorn | 1 Night

Continuing our journey through the Little Karoo, we have a chance to visit a local winery that specialises in fantastic Ports. Several homely restaurants line the route, as well as a famous bar known as Ronnie's Sex Shop! We travel some of the most magnificent passes in the country at our leisure, heading through the mountains and a Nature Reserve ending along the Gamkapoort Dam. Read more

Gamkapoort Dam | 2 Nights

We enjoy a peaceful day spent around the Dam, with many optional activities on offer such as hiking, canoeing, and a visit to one of the many Bushmen paintings in the area. The tranquility of the setting is perfect for just doing nothing too!

Gamkapoort Dam | 2 Nights

From here we travel a different route back to Cape Town, moving further through the mountains and into the Karoo, a large swathe of ancient landscape where the silence and stars are the best in South Africa. We take a long scenic drive through Anysberg Nature Reserve, a World Heritage Site, and finish in the quaint town of Matjiesfontein and the Lord Milner Hotel. Read more

On our final day we enjoy a leisured drive along the scenic route back to Cape Town. After all the places we've visited, sit back, relax and soak up the scenery and vistas to end off a great trip. There will be plenty of photo opportunities along the way.
