Terelj National Park-is one of the most popular national parks in Mongolia. Terelj features stunning granite mountains and flowery endless grassy green meadows. This picturesque National Park is a part of Khan Khentii Strictly Protected Area. It is a great place for hiking, trekking, even you can rock climb here at its natural steep granite walls.

ITINERARY

Arrival in Ulaanbaatar

Upon your arrival in Ulaanbaatar (UB or ULN), meet Samar Magic Tours team and to be transferred to the hotel. The check-in time at hotel is after 02:00P.M. UB City tour: visits the National History Museum, where you will see artifacts from Mongolia and Central Asia from the Stone Age to the present,and the main square in the heart of Ulaanbaatar. Here you will see a large statue of the Genghis or Chinggis Khaan-inaugurated in 2006 on the occasion of 800th Anniversary of the Great Mongolian Empire of Genghis Khan (1206-2006), the Sukh Baatar Hero along with The Parliament House, Stock Exchange, the Drama Theater and the Palace of Culture. 06:00 P.M.-Mongolian National Performers (concert which includes the Tsam dance, traditional Mongolian singers, dancers, Tuvan throat singing and contortionists). UB City sightseeing tour

Breakfast at hotel. 10:00 A.M.-UB City Tour: visit the Zanabazar Museum of Fine Art, was founded in 1966. Visitors can enjoy works of Mongolia's famous artists, and sculptors who lived before or in the early 20th century. Sculptures by Mongolia's first Bogd Khaan and famous sculptor Zanabazar("Five Gods" and "Taras"), as well as appliques and sculptures in wood and stone by talented Mongolian craftsmen are among the 10 thousand exhibits of the museum. Continue to visit the Choijin Lama temple-museum: the complex consists of four temples originally occupied by the brother of the ruler Bogd Khan, Choijin Lama Luvsankhaidav, who was the state oracle at the time. The complex was begun in 1904 and completed in 1908. In 1938 the government converted the complex into a museum. Lunch in local restaurant. After lunch, we visit small dinosaur’s fossil museum, and the Winter Palace of the Bogd Khan-the palace is the only one left from originally four residences of the eighth Jebtsundamba Khutughtu, who was later proclaimed Bogd Khan, or emperor of Mongolia. UB City sightseeing tour

Terelj National Park

Breakfast at hotel. 09:30 A.M.-We visit the Gandantegchinlen Monastery is a Tibetan-style Buddhist monastery, that has been restored and revitalized since 1990.The Tibetan name translates to the "Great Place of Complete Joy".It currently has over 150 monks in residence. It features a 26.5-meter-high statue of Avalokitesvara. It came under state protection in 1994. By hotels policy check-out time is before 12:00 noon. Lunch in local restaurant in Ulaanbaatar. After the lunch, drive north further to reach Terelj National Park. Seeing grasslands and beautiful vistas. The valley is about 20kms/12miles long at 1600m. This picturesque National Park is a part of Khan Khentii Strictly Protected Area. It is a great place for hiking, trekking, even you can rock climb here at its natural steep granite walls. On the way, we explore the 100 Lamas cave, where the Lamas hide from the soviets repression. Explore the Turtle shaped original giant rock. Walking & Hiking to Arryabal Meditation Temple on the top of the small hill. Afterward, drive to be transferred to Terelj Spa Resort Luxury hotel 5*. Free time in your own at hotel for relaxing. Breakfast at hotel. Morning free time at hotel for relaxing and spa. 12:00 M-Meet our transport and the guide at the reception of the hotel (by hotels policy check-out time is before 12:00 noon). Drive to meet a nomadic family on the way to learn and to see the nomad´s life style. Afterward, drive towards to visit the 40 meter (~133, 3 feet) Statue of Genghis Kan. Visitors walk to the head of the horse through its chest and neck of the horse, where they can have a panoramic view. Drive back to Ulaanbaatar (about 2hrs driving). Lunch in local restaurant in Ulaanbaatar. Transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon, we visit the Zaisan Memorial and then visit Buddha statue. The Zaisan Memorial is a memorial south of the Mongolian capital of Ulaanbaatar. Visitors must make a climb of three hundred steps before reaching the monument and mural. Those who make the climb are rewarded with a panoramic view of the entire city of Ulaanbaatar in the valley below, as well as the Tuul River flowing past the city. Very nice ger, owners committed to comfort and friendly. We were picked up on time form the train and taken to the ger camp and the driver was careful (always a plus!) although they had to stop in Ulan Batar first for some errands and the traffic is horrendous so that added some time to getting out to the camp. That said, they were very nice about stopping at a store first for some supplies. The camp is located in a very nice area although it is a bit "touristy" so if you were looking for a genuine Mongolian nomadic experience this would not be it. But then again, I think this was a nice balance between comfort and the ger experience. They had an English speaking interpreter on site to help us and that was great. It was early in the season so we were the only ones there and they cooked us a traditional Khorkog meal on the first night (mutton, potatoes, cabbage and carrots) and the interpreter took us through the warming stones ritual before we ate and it was a nice touch. The camp is built on the side of a hill and you can climb down the valley on the back side to the river and it is breathtakingly beautiful. The bathroom was a bit far away for me as i had a touch of travellers revenge but then again, it is a ger right? They were very nice and friendly and from the ger you can watch the herders and horsemen and a yak gave birth on the morning we were there. Neat. The ger itself is very nice and we felt recharged when we left. Nice woodstove and they gave us all the wood we needed. Nice milk sharing ritual as we left. Overall, I would definitely recommend.
