Lima

Day at leisure in Lima. Suggestions : From Miraflores you can go to the local market of Surquillo. In this market you will discover national products: fish, shellfish, fruits, fresh vegetables, spices of all kinds... and perhaps you will even come across Suri, this plump white worm consumed in the Amazon ! Miraflores is home to an archaeological curiosity located in the heart of the city: a pre-Inca pyramid! The Huaca Puccllana is a pyramidal temple built of adobe and clay bricks by the Wari civilization between 800 and 1000 AD. Mummies and numerous human offerings were recently found there! Walk along the "malecon", a long promenade which borders the cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean, from the Miraflores lighthouse to the Larcomar shopping center via the Parque del Amor. It is possible to reach Barranco on foot following the malecon (around 45 minutes walk). In Barranco, we advise you to stroll through the streets around the Plaza de Armas, to pass by the bridge of sighs ("puente de los suspiros") and walkd down the "bajada de los baños", a pedestrian alley which connects to the beach of Barranco. Unlike the modern district of Miraflores, Barranco still retains its old architecture, with very beautiful, colorful colonial houses. The artistic and bohemian district par excellence where street art dominates, you will find there many designer boutiques, art galleries, small cafes and restaurants ! The most adventurous can go to the Historic center of Lima, but we advise you to take a taxi from your hotel (around 30 minutes). Discover the colonial districts passing by Plaza San Martin and Plaza de Armas. Overnight at Habitat Hotel. Read more
