Arrive in Entebbe

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport You will be met by your guide, briefed about your upcoming journey and transferred to your lodge. We feel it's best to stay in Entebbe after your flight, the last thing you want to do after a long flight is go on another long car journey. If you arrive early there are many excursions available, and great places to eat, ask your regional expert for more information. Read more

Airport Guest House

Kampala and Ziwa Rhino Sanct

In the morning you will transfer to Uganda’s busy capital, where you will do a short city tour visiting the main sights before grabbing your lunch at one of the many restaurants available. After your lunch you will transfer to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, where you will check in at your lodge inside the sanctuary itself. Once you are settled you will embark on your rhino tracking. The latest you can begin your rhino tracking in 4.30 pm, which is actually the best time to do it as the temperature will be cooler and the rhinos are more active at these times. Read more

Amuka Safari Lodge

Shoebill Canoe Ride and Murc

At 6.30 am you will embark on a 3 hour 30 min canoe ride to see the amazing Shoebill stork. This ancient creature is one of the most remarkable birds in the world, and looks like a relic from primeval times. Ziwa is one of the best places to see these magnificent birds with a 95% chance of seeing one, and with reports of people seeing up to 9 on this trip. After returning to your lodge you will set off towards Murchison Falls National Park, stopping on the way for lunch. Murchison River Lodge

Game Drive and Nile Boat Saf

Spend the morning on a game drive taking in Murchison's breath-taking wildlife and scenery, including 4 of the 'Big 5', with only rhino missing. In the afternoon you will embark on a boat cruise to see one of the planets great sights, Murchison Falls themselves, where the mighty Nile river squeezes through an 8m wide gorge creating the world’s most powerful water flow, creating the trademark rainbow. During this three-hour cruise you will also get to see the fantastic array of wildlife on the river bank, and get the opportunity to take a walk to the top of the falls themselves. Read more

Murchison River Lodge

Kidepo

Today you will grab a packed lunch and take the long drive north to Kidepo. Although the drive is long, you will be driving through towns and villages, getting a glimpse into Ugandan life in the more remote and wild parts of the country, and as you get closer to Kidepo the scenery is breath-taking. Hopefully you will arrive just in time to go on an evening game drive. Read more

UWA Banda's

Game Drives

Kidepo is known as one of Africa’s last remaining wildernesses and was recently voted in the top three national parks in the whole of Africa, and it’s easy to see why. It combines unbelievable landscapes with a wide variety of big game, including three big cat species; lions, leopards and cheetahs. Also, because of its remoteness, you often almost have the park to yourself. In the morning you will go out on a game drive at sunrise which is the best time to see the animals. In the afternoon you will take the drive to the valley itself, which offers excellent views and is the only place you can see the ostrich in the whole of Uganda, alternatively you can do a nature walk to spot animal tracks and take in your surroundings on foot. Sipi Falls

Today you will take another long drive south to Sipi Falls, one of the most beautiful areas in Uganda. The falls themselves are breath-taking and a great place to have a swim at the bottom, that is if you don’t mind the cold water. Once you have arrived you will be welcomed with a delicious four course evening meal, exactly what you need after your long drive. Read more

Sipi River Lodge

Jinja

There are several activities you can do at Sipi, whether it’s a walk to the falls, mountain biking or abseiling down the falls. When you begin to tailor make your tour we will discuss which option is best for you. In the afternoon you will transfer to Jinja, the adventure capital of East Africa, where your guide will leave you for the next two nights. Your accommodation is fairly budget but offers excellent views of the Nile and has a great atmosphere to it. There is a great menu full of delicious and relatively cheap food. Read more

Nile River Explorers

Jinja

There are so many activities and things to do in Jinja, from grade 5 white water rafting, to horse riding, to bungee jumping, to quad biking, to cruises to the source of the Nile, the list goes on and on. We like to leave this open so that you can decide what you would like to do once you have arrived and see what you feel like, but if you'd like to book in advance then we can discuss your options with you prior to travel. East African Discovery organised an excellent trip away for the 5 of us, they were able to sort everything we wanted for the duration of the holiday. We had a superb trip away and would recommend booking with them. Our trip was tailor made from the start, with communication over email being a stress-free experience. Hopefully we will use you again, to return to the excellent gorilla trek. Thanks East African Discovery. Read more

I would like to congratulate you for the very good trip you organized for the five of us. The driver, Herbert, was excellent, careful and full of attention, very punctual and always ready to satisfy us. He was always the first one to see the animals. We have been very lucky - leopard (2) - a female lion with 3 little ones - 6 sleepy lions - lions in the trees, gorillas after a walk of only 20 minutes, elephants, hippos etc.... The lodges were all excellent and full of charm; we enjoyed them very much. I shall not fail to recommend your company. Read more

We had a 6-day safari in Uganda arranged by Ben Tinsley at East African Discovery in late November 2016. It exceeded all expectations for value for money, accommodation, variety of scenery and sights, and quality of the driver/guide. We have travelled extensively including in other parts of East Africa. Uganda is truly special. We appreciated that the company is locally owned, with excellent local intelligence and experience in the tourism and game tracking fields in Uganda. We liked that the company is small, offering bespoke safaris rather than off-the-shelf itineraries. Ben responded to all queries and requests promptly during the planning stage and no question was too silly to ask. Our driver/guide was prompt, organised, informative, and friendly - he had grown up in a part of the country that we visited so his local knowledge was particularly good. The chimpanzee and gorilla tracking were experiences of a lifetime. Everything went off without a hitch. The pricing of EAD was considerably better than that offered for similar safaris by the larger outfits. We would recommend EAD without reservation. Read more
