Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport You will be met by your guide, briefed about your upcoming journey and transferred to your lodge. We feel it's best to stay in Entebbe after your flight, the last thing you want to do after a long flight is go on another long car journey. After your breakfast, you will spend the day transferring to the national park rich western Uganda, starting with Kibale Forest National Park, stopping on the way for lunch. You should arrive in the afternoon to take in the natural beauty of this area.
Today you get the chance to get up close and personal with man's closest relative, the Chimpanzee. These special Apes are a joy to watch as they go about their daily lives, squabbling and playing in the fruit trees. Upon sighting the Chimps, you will stay with them for one hour. After lunch, you will transfer to the Rwenzori mountains and to Trekkers Hostel, the base for all hikes in the ‘mountains of the moon’! Read more
Your guided hike will be provided by Rwenzori Trekking Services, and this is their most popular hike. It’s a real physical challenge, but not so technical that it requires ropes. The ‘mountains of the moon’ are a real treat for the eye, challenge for the body and climbing Africa’s highest mountain range should be on every hikers bucket list! There are several different hikes available in the Rwenzori’s, from 1 to 10 day trips, each of varying technical and physical difficulty. In the morning, you will make the two and a half hour drive to Queen Elizabeth NP. Before heading out in the afternoon to see the excellent game and bird life on offer there. Head out in the morning to enjoy the magnificent game on offer in Queen, including 4 of the 'Big 5', many other big game animals and the vast array of birds that live within the park. In the afternoon, you will enjoy one of Uganda's great wildlife experiences, the Kazinga Channel boat cruise, where you can see a vast array of wildlife playing and taking a water break along the shore. Today you will drive north to Jinja, the adventure capital of East Africa and the perfect place to chill out after your hectic hike and safari. There is tons to do in Jinja, like horse riding, bungee jumping, quad biking, mountain biking to name but a few, but it is also a great place to chill out and soak up some sun buy the river Nile. This will surely be one of the highlights of your trip, Grade 5 white water rafting the river Nile. You will battle the currents, waterfalls and raging torrents for a full day on this unforgettable experience.
Your last full day in Uganda is completely free to do as you choose. Whether it’s do one of the many activities available or just chill out in the sun.

I would like to congratulate you for the very good trip you organized for the five of us. The driver, Herbert, was excellent, careful and full of attention, very punctual and always ready to satisfy us. He was always the first one to see the animals. We have been very lucky - leopard (2) - a female lion with 3 little ones - 6 sleepy lions - lions in the trees, gorillas after a walk of only 20 minutes, elephants, hippos etc.... We had a 6-day safari in Uganda arranged by Ben Tinsley at East African Discovery in late November 2016. It exceeded all expectations for value for money, accommodation, variety of scenery and sights, and quality of the driver/guide. We have travelled extensively including in other parts of East Africa. Uganda is truly special. We appreciated that the company is locally owned, with excellent local intelligence and experience in the tourism and game tracking fields in Uganda. We liked that the company is small, offering bespoke safaris rather than off-the-shelf itineraries. Ben responded to all queries and requests promptly during the planning stage and no question was too silly to ask. Our driver/guide was prompt, organised, informative, and friendly - he had grown up in a part of the country that we visited so his local knowledge was particularly good. The chimpanzee and gorilla tracking were experiences of a lifetime. Everything went off without a hitch.
