After breakfast, take a shuttle bus to the rose sandstone temple of Banteay Srei, then explore the temple’s magnificent carvings, we then embark on the 31km Grand Circuit to the famous ruined, jungle temple of Ta Phrom. Ta Phrom is one of Angkor’s jewels and is overgrown with fig trees, giving a
haunting yet exotic atmosphere. The magnificent roots of the trees have merged over the centuries with the temple’s huge stone blocks, emphasizing a ‘forgotten city’ feeling. The temple was built by King Jayavarman VII to commemorate his mother. Take your time to walk through the temple. Break for lunch nearby Sra Srong, the old Royal baths of the king. Continue to the East gate of Angkor Thom the ancient royal city of Khmer Empire with its centerpiece; the Bayon temple. As you approach, you will notice the enigmatic faces of former King Jayavarman VII facing in every direction. Your guide will take you to the Terrace of the Elephants, which served as a platform from where the King could welcome back his victorious army and the Terrace of the Leper King, which holds detailed carvings winding along a narrow passage way that leads to the Baphuon complex. If time permits, continue to visit other temples in the area. Cycle back to Siem Reap via picturesque country lanes for a well-deserved dip in the pool. Overnight in Siem Reap.
