Colombia Intense

During this 14-day tour through Colombia we will visit some of the best known and some of lesser-known parts of the country. The Colombian Intensive Tour takes you from the capital, Bogotá, with its world-famous “Museo Del Oro”, to the virtually untouched region of the Pacific coast, where marvelous beaches and deep tropical forests are waiting to be discovered. We also head into the coffee growing region.

Arrival in Bogotá

Upon arrival in Bogotá you will be welcomed by our bilingual travel guide and transferred to a beautiful hotel.

2 nights in the city center

Bogotá Citytour

We begin our Colombia adventure with a half-day tour in the bustling city of Bogotá, starting with a walk around Bogotá’s main square, the Plaza de Bolívar and the government buildings around it, before entering the nearby “Candelaria” old town, the colonial center of the city. We follow this with visits to San Francisco Church and to the world-famous Museo Del Oro (closed on Mondays), which houses more than 30.000 pre-Columbian gold artifacts. We end with a trip by cable car to the summit of Monserrate hill, Bogotá’s best-known landmark, with a wonderful view of the whole city and the savanna beyond. Read more

Journey to the Pacific coast

Our third day starts with a transfer to the airport and a flight from Bogotá - with one stop in Medellín - to our destination, Nuquí, a village on the Pacific coast. After a short walk around, we board a small motorboat to make the one-hour trip south along the coast to Coqui cove. This is the spectacular seaside setting of the El Cantil cabañas. Three -3- nights in the huts, including full board. Daily walks to the sea and into the deep tropical forest surrounding El Cantil. Read more

Different excursions are being offered and included in the price: An excursion to thermal bath (El Cantil Option), and another excursion to a hidden waterfall inside the tropical forest or a hike through the jungle to see the poisonous frogs.

Journey to the coffee region

After 3 days of enjoying the Pacific coast, it is time to discover the best-known product of Colombia, coffee. We return by motorboat to Nuquí and transfer to the airport. Flight via Medellín to Armenia, where you will enjoy two nights on a very typical coffee farm.

2 nights on a coffee farm

Cocora Valley and Salento

We start the morning with a visit to the coffee growing area and a farm where we receive a technical and practical introduction to the coffee cultivation and production. We continue our trip to the Cocora Valley; once there we will enjoy breathtaking landscapes, which will be explored by a horse riding or walking trip, this is in one of the most beautiful places in Colombia. Here we will find the impressive “Palma de Cera”, the Colombian national tree and one of the tallest species of palm in the world. On the way back to Armenia, we will visit Salento, a picturesque village in the middle of the coffee growing region. Read more

Journey to San Agustín

After breakfast, we transfer to the airport and fly to Neiva. Upon arrival in Neiva, we continue our journey with an overland trip of 4–5 hours through the mountainous landscape of the river Magdalena to San Agustín. Reaching the village you will be transferred to a wonderful hotel where you will enjoy a three-night stay. Read more

3 nights in a forest hotel

Archaeological Park

In the morning, an extensive visit of the San Agustín Archaeological Park is scheduled. We will see the Mesitas A-B-C and D, the “Fuente Ceremonial de Lavapatas” and the Archaeological Museum. In the afternoon, horseback ride to the “El Tablón” and “La Chaquira” archaeological sites or alternatively a visit to the nearby strait of the Río Magdalena. Read more

Going back in history

After breakfast we start off with a trip to the nearby village of San José de Isnos, to see the treasures of its archaeological park, the “Alto de los Ídolos”, “Alto de las Piedras”, and the “Salto Del Mortiño” waterfalls. Journey to Caribbean coast

In the morning, overland trip back to Neiva. Flight to Cartagena, via Bogotá. Welcome by the local travel guide. Transfer to hotel. The remainder of the day will be at the tourist’s disposal for exploration.

3 nights in old center

Cartagena Citytour

After a good night's sleep a half-day tour around Cartagena, one of the most impressive urban centers in Latin America awaits us. It is an ancient city constructed in the Spanish colonial style and surrounded by high defensive walls. But don’t be surprised if your own defenses fall and you find yourself falling in love with Cartagena’s heady mix of history and Caribbean charm. The tour takes us around all the historic buildings and plazas of the old city, including the “La Popa” Convent and San Felipe Castle. The afternoon will be free to either explore the streets of the old city or take a bath in the Caribbean Sea. Read more

Rosario Islands

Today will be a day of sea, sun and sand. We start the day with a speedboat ride towards the San Martín Island where we will have a visit of the aquarium and a chance to see performing dolphins and sharks. We continue to the privately owned Pirate’s Island were we will spend the rest of the day. After lunch you will have time to relax, sunbath and snorkel or take a dip in the Caribbean Sea. During the course of the morning, transfer to the airport and return flight, to Bogotá.
