Arrival at the International airport of Bogotá, meet your English-speaking guide and transfer to the hotel.

2 nights in the city center

After our first nutritious breakfast with eggs, bread, fruits and juice we meet our guide to start to discover the Colombian capital city. The tour starts with a trip in a funicular railway or cable car to the top of the Monserrate Hill offering a spectacular view of the city. Afterwards we walk through the old town La Candelaria with its colonial architecture and visit the main square Plaza Bolivar the government buildings. Finally we discover the famous Gold Museum, which houses the world greatest collection of pre-Hispanic Indian gold crafts. The tour ends, with a visit to Paloquemao an authentic market place, where we will see and can taste all the typical fruits and learn everything about vegetables and other food products of the region. After breakfast we leave Bogotá via the Northern Highway visiting Zipaquira, the world famous salt cathedral in Zipaquira. After around 5-6 hours including the stop in Zipaquira, we arrive in Villa de Leyva, one of the most beautiful and well-preserved colonial villages in South America. In the afternoon we will arrive at the hotel and afterwards we stroll through the village of Villa de Leyva visiting the central plaza with its churches, restaurants and handicraft shops. Read more

1 night near the main square

After breakfast our day starts with an overland transport from Villa de Leyva to Barichara, another one of the most beautiful colonial villages in Colombia. Transfer to a romantic, colonial style hotel. Afterwards we visit the colonial treasures of Barichara in a 3 hours walking tour.

1 night in a colonial hotel

We continue our trip overland to Barrancabermeja (aproximatly 6 hours driving time via the impressive Chicamocha canyon. On the way we visit a traditional coffee hacienda, walk in the plantations and coffee degustation.

1 night in a riverside hotel

After breakfast transfer to the pier and trip by small motor boats on the Magdalena River to El Banco (4-5 hours) and continue from there in a private bus to Mompos.

2 nights in historic center

After breakfast, complete tour of the town in order to appreciate its finest churches, buildings and plazas. In addition to the stunning architectural integrity of the town, you will also be fascinated by its handmade gold and silver filigree jewelry, the traditional “mompoxino” style. In the morning we continue our trip overland to Cartagena. First we cross the Magdalena River close to Magangue and continue to Cartagena. Arrival at Cartagena de Indias and transfer to our Hotel located at the Old City. Today Cartagena is Colombia’s fifth largest city, has the best preserved colonial architecture in the country and is one of the most famous vacation resorts - it was declared a World Heritage by the UNSECO in 1984. 2 nights in a colonial hotel

In the morning we take a first walk through the beautiful Old City of Cartagena visit to the convent of La Popa (the highest point of the city) and the Castillo de San Felipe, an immense fort filled with history and mysteries hidden in its stonewalled tunnels. Breakfast and day at leisure. In the afternoon transfer to the airport and flight back to Bogotá connecting to the flight to Europe.
