This tour starts in Guilin where you can see the most the beautiful karst mountains in China esp. the boat trip on Li River. Travel into Guizhou and meet up with the colourful ethnic groups such as Miao, Dong and Shui where still live in traitional way, it's a wallless Museum of ethnic people in China. The Sister’s Rice Festival of Miao in Taijiang gives us a chance to learn about Miao people and their culture. Visit the Huangguoshu Waterfalls.
Arrival in Guilin and transfer to hotel. Guilin is one of the most beautiful places in China attracts many people at home and abroad, we choose a small nice hotel in the beautiful countryside and that gives you the chance to walk around in the area. Date: March 27th, 2020
Boat ride on Li River in the morning to enjoy the famous karst mountains and Li River in Guilin. Arrive Yangshou in the early afternoon, we check into hotel and drive out to visit the Moon Hill, walk up for a few hundreds step to the hill where you can have a good view of the area.
Forty mins drive to Baisha and take a walk on the country road to Yulong Rover, walk along the River down via Xinzai and Chaoyang village, enjoy the beautiful karst landscape along the way. The three hours walk ends at Gongnong Bridge, drive to Langzhi village and visit the village for a couple of hours to see some 200 years old houses and meet up with people. Drive back to Hotel. Drive to Zhaoxing, Zhaoxing is the biggest Dong village consists of wonderful wooden houses, pretty wind and rain bridge with a few drum towers in the village. Nice to spend a few hours to wander around the village and walk through the terraces near the village.
Three hours drive to Jiabang Terraces, with visits to the remote Miao and Zhuang village along the road, visit the terraces and Miao village live in the terraces, see the sunset over the terraces.
Get up early and see the sunrise over the terraces, take some walks in the terraces in morning. Drive to Rongjiang with visits to villages along the way. Visit Chejiang Dong villages near a river with traditional wooden houses and huge drum tower.
Five hours drive to Leishan with visits to Miao and Shui village along the way, and visit Datang village with rice storages over water to protect the rats from eating the rice. Leishan is a small town of Miao people with a river running through the town.
Visit Shuidian and Peika villages near the town, here we can visit a famous local Lusheng Musical instrument maker: Mr. Mo, his skills passed down from family for generations, and take some walks in the fields. Visit the Leishan and walk on the old streets and city square.
Visit Langde village to see some dances of Miao people. Drive to visit Xiashi Old Town to see some old houses and streets. Drive to Zhenyuan and take a walk along the Wujiang River in Zhenyuan to see the old city wall.
Visit the old town of Zhenyuan on food to see the old streets and traditional houses of Zhenyuan, climb up to the mountain behind Zhenyuan, here you can walk on the small Great Wall on the range of the mountain and have a good view Zhenyuan city along the Wayang River. Drive to Taijiang where the Sister's Rice Fstival takes places. We will see some locals will gather on the squre and start to sing and dance in the evening. Read more
Attend the opening ceremony of the Sister’s Rice Festival in Taijiang with dances of Miao people on the square and also on the streets of the town. You will see thousands of people dressed in their best festival clothes in town and dance on the streets. The Sister's Rice Festival provides the Miao people with an opportunity to travel around, socialize, meet friends and relatives, and be entertained by singing and dancing, This festival is for fun but its main function is for young people to meet each other and find a marriage partner. See more dances and singing of the festival on the Square in town in the morning, and drive to Laotun village to see the festival dances in the village. Drive to Guiyang in the later afternoon.
A couple of hours visit of Guiyang on foot in the morning to see the people dance and practice Taiji on the Square, visit Minyang Buddhist Temple Surrounded by tall mordern building, walk along the River to visit the Jiaxiuluo Tower. Drive visit Huangguoshu Waterfalls which the biggest waterfall in Asia, with a walk behind the waterfall. Back to Guiyang. Read more

Our customized tour of Yunnan province for 16 days far exceeded our expectations. It was a fascinating journey through some of the most spectacular scenery I have ever seen. There is a lot of unique geography and interesting ethnic groups throughout the region. We traveled through many areas of relatively remote mountains and river gorges. Really off the beaten track! But even on somewhat treacherous roads, we were comfortable and felt secure. One reason we chose Edward Adventures was because they were able to provide us with one guide and driver that would be responsible for us the whole trip. The high level of service and consistency of this approach was really exceptional and very tailored to our preferences. We felt like a family friend was showing us around his home territory. The meals were really something special! Our guide knew all the local specialties in each place we visited and we tried them all. It seemed he handpicked our food for us and made sure of the best quality everywhere we went. Our hotels were very comfortable. The most impressive thing about our tour was probably the way our guide seemed to always know where to go to get away from the crowds, to see the most amazing scenery and interesting sites in a very personalized way. And the many Chinese people he introduced to us everywhere were so friendly and warm. We didn’t even feel much like tourists travelling with him! We did a 3 week tour from Lijiang to Chengdu ( 3 of us ) with Edward as our guide and driver. It was a most memorable experience with Edward intimate knowledge of the best scenery , the best cultural experience and local customs and events. Wherever we went we got an insight into the local way of life and tried all the local food specialties. We also did some trekking and were taken to some really special places such as Thousand Tortoise Mountain, Tiger Leaping Gorge and Yading Nature Reserve. The scenery is really spectacular and for us fortunately also were the wildflowers. We have previously toured in Western China and had a fantastic time but Edward Adventures provided us with a far superior experience from start to finish. Read more
