Early morning we depart in a shared transfer provide by the hotel to Tortuguero, with a stop in Gua-piles to enjoy a traditional Costarican breakfast in a local restaurant, then we will continue our way in the North Caribbean coast of Costa Rica; a place where time seems to have stood still, whether it’s the Caribbean ocean or the Tortuguero canals and rivers. No roads, no cars, no horns. “The Little Amazon of Costa Rica”, reachable only by boat or by air, a tropical haven for a great amount of wildlife, peaceful scenery to rejoice the soul, homeland to nesting sea turtle species and an opportuni-ty to discover the heartland of the Rainforest. After lunch we will visit Tortuguero Town a small com-munity of 1300 people who live surrounded by water, depart from your Lodge by boat and arrive a couple of minutes later to the little village of Tortuguero. This tour will provide with an opportunity to learn about the ways of life of the inhabitants of Tortuguero. Tour around the main road, and take a look at some of the souvenirs made by the local artisans, you might find something very interesting for you. Return to the Lodge with your tour guide. After a delicious breakfast we will enjoy a boat tour into Tortuguero canals, depart from the Lodge by boat to the Ranger Station at Tortuguero National park for admission and Park fees. The Park Ranger will tell us which canal we are to explore today, and we will then venture on a 2 hour boat tour inside the canals. Flora and fauna in Tortuguero is amazing, with more than 350 bird species identified so far, including 3 out of the 4 species of monkeys of Costa Rica, caimans, crocodiles, toucans, sloth, and much more. Breakfast at the hotel, then we depart by boat to La Pavona pork where our bus will be waiting for us to continue to Guapiles to enjoy a delicious lunch in a local restaurant. After lunch private transportation to the beautiful area of Sarapiquí known throughout Costa Rica for its amazing and rich biodi-versity as well as for being an adventure seeker’s dream destination, is also home to a number of nature reserves and national parks including the Braulio Carrillo National Park and the Sarapiqui Protected zone. At morning we will enjoy Floating Safari tour, guided 3 hours ride in rafts trough the beautiful lower Sarapiquí and its tributaries from the Braulio Carrillo National Park. With very little white water, but the stunning scenery and varied fauna is worth the trip. You will want to take memories with you get your cameras ready. Early morning we will live one of the best experience in Sarapiquí, the Birdwatching tour, this activity starts at 6:00 a.m and includes continental breakfast, Costa Rica has the privilege of having one of the highest concentrations of birds in the world. During the 3 hour tour you will have the opportunity to get to know the great variety of avifauna that can be found in this region with the help of an experienced guide. The most common species of birds of the Sarapiquí area represent more than 54% of the total amount of species that can be found in the country. After a delicious breakfast we will meet our captain and guide who will take us by boat to the coral reef where we will go snorkeling for two hours at two different points in the Cahuita National Park. Next we will start a 1½ hour guided hike through the National Park. This National Park is a combina-tion of beautiful beaches, coral reefs, and a tropical rainforest where you can easily observe many species of monkeys, sloths, frogs, butterflies and more. The coral reef of this park includes about 240 natural habitats. There are 123 different species of fis-hes, 44 species of crustaceans, 140 shellfish and 1281 various algae that have been identified so far. You also can observe 35 different coral species such as fire coral, and the red and black coral which is unique to this area. At the end of the hike, the car will take us back to our hotel in Puerto Viejo. Read more
