Essential Myanmar Tour

The program includes the main destinations (Mandalay, Bagan, Inle and Yangon) and extension Loikaw. Loikaw: Loikaw is famous for it´s tribes, trekking and nature. The trip is possible throughout the trip, but rainy seasons from May to September is quite complicated for trekking trip with mud and rains, but preference is less tourists and very green.


Our representative will greet you at Mandalay airport and escort you to the hotel for check-in. Mandalay, the last capital of the Konbaung dynasty, until its fall in 1885 in the hands of the British. Even today, Mandalay is the religious and cultural center of the country, offering a true aftertaste of the oldest Asia and more deeply Buddhist beliefs. Depending on your time of arrival, visit highlights in the town include the highly-revered Mahamuni Pagoda, the wood-carved Shwenandaw Monastery and sunset at Mandalay Hill. Read more

Breakfast at hotel; visit the ancient royal capital of Amarapura. Here, we will visit the Mahagandayon monastery, which is a school for young monks, and U Bein Bridge, which is more than two-hundred years old and is the longest teakwood bridge in the world. We then continue to Sagaing, which was the capital of the Shan Kingdom in the 14th Century and briefly the capital in the 18th Century, as part of the Konbaung Dynasty. The town is located slightly downriver from Mandalay and has many interested stupas scattered over Sagaing Hill. Later, we will visit another former royal capital, Inwa, which was founded in 1364 and was the royal capital for nearly 400 years. Highlights here include the ‘leaning tower of Ava’, Maha Aungmye Bonzan Monastery, which was built by masonry as opposed to most other monasteries which are built with wood, and the elegant teakwood Bagaya Monastery. Transfer to the Mandalay's Gawein Jetty at 6am for boat cruise down the mighty Irrawaddy River to Bagan, arriving in time for dinner. On the way you will have the chance to relax and take in the slow pace of riverside life, including a local village visit (lunch on board the boat). Lunch on board. Note: 1) Alliance Myanmar cruise is available on their schedule departure and once its cancel; we will use alternative Cruise (without stop over at the village). 2) We will arrange Mandalay – Bagan by private car from May to September. We will enjoy a Bagan Archaeological Tour which takes in famous sites including Damayarzaka Pagoda, Shwegugyi and Thabyinnyu. Other highlights include the mural paintings at Gubyukggyi and Abeyadana Temple, which is famed for its mural paintings about Mahayana Buddhism. In the afternoon we visit a lacquer ware shop to learn about this unique art, which Bagan is famous for, is carried out before enjoying Bagan’s famous sunset from atop one of the temples. Read more

Early morning transfer to Nyaung U aiport for the flight to Heho, located in the picturesque Shan State. Arrival at Heho airport and drive to Inle take a sightseeing board a private motorised boat and take a sightseeing tour of the lake. Highlights on the lake tour include five day market (if coincide), floating gardens, Inn Paw Khone village to witness the lotus and silk weaving industries, the floating village of Ywama, Phaungaw Daw Oo Pagoda, the museum-like Nge Phe Kyaung monastery. In the morning, we will pay a visit to the 17th century pagodas at Indein and traverse some of the narrow creeks that make up the denser areas of the lake. In this area, we have an exclusive route, passing through the small town Pa O (ethnic minority) of Netaw from the old jetty, walking about 30 minutes up the hill, and passing the beautiful bamboo forest. Overnight in Inle/Nyaungshwe


After breakfast, travel by boat to south for a journey to reach Sangha and Thakong Villages at the far end of Inle Lake. This relaxing boat journey (about 3 hours one way) enables us to get off the beaten path and see unspoiled culture and the traditional life-styles of the ethnic groups living in the area. And then, we are going to Phekong and then we are driving to Loikaw. Read more

After breakfast at hotel, we will head by car to the beautiful and rugged mountains to the south of Loikaw, home to the famous Kayan ‘long-neck’ women, known for the brass rings they sport around their necks. In the Kayan village of Pan Pet, you will have the option of short or long treks and both will afford you the opportunity to experience village life in this remote and unique part of Myanmar, only recently opened to foreigners. After breakfast at hotel, we will visit Taung Kwe Pagoda, which comprises a number of white and gold monuments sitting on top of limestone outcrops which jut dramatically from the surrounding plains. They are interesting and fun to wander around and provide a different experience to other pagodas in Myanmar – as well as offering panoramic views of the distant plains, hills and mountains and then, visit the Phoperyone Monastery, Kayar National Museum and Haw palace. Overnight in Loikaw


Transfer to the airport to take a flight to Yangon. Once you are refreshed we will take a sightseeing tour of some of Yangon’s highlights, including the Reclining Buddha at Chauk Htat Gyi, still a popular place for Buddhist worshippers, and the National Museum, home too many interesting artefacts from Myanmar’s past. We will then visit the bustling Chinatown area in Yangon’s downtown before you have the chance to browse for Myanmar crafts at the Bogyoke Aung San Market. Our day ends with a visit to the Shwedagon Pagoda, the most important religious structure in Myanmar and a point of pilgrimage for Buddhists across the globe. Read more
