Adventurous nature lovers, you will enjoy this road trip between Fortaleza and São Luis! You will begin with Jericoacoara National Park and the peacefulness of Barra Grande beach. Then you will discover the Delta of Parnaíba fauna before reaching the thousand lagoons trek in the Lençois Maranhenses Park. During 2 days of private trek, with nights spent in oasis, you will fill your head with pictures of this unique landscape of sand dunes and lagoons.

ITINERARY

Arrival in Fortaleza

Welcome to Northeast Brazil: wild beaches, sand dunes, and lagoons! Your Portuguese speaking driver will pick you up at the airport of Fortaleza to your hotel.

Fortaleza, 1 night

Fortaleza - Jericoacoara

Your Portuguese speaking driver will come to pick you up at your hotel or the airport in the morning for a full day transfer/excursion along the Ceará coast. You will cross the charming seaside villages of Cumbuco, Guajirú, Lagoinha and Icaraizinho before arriving in Jericoacoara. Installation in your hotel. Read more

Swimming in the lagoons - Jericoacoara

Departure at 9h00 for a buggy excursion with a local driver to the Lagoa Azul and the Lagoa do Paraíso. You will make a stop at the Pedra Furada (holed stone) and the Árvore da Preguiça (laziness tree) to take some pictures. You will then follow to the lagoons to swim and enjoy the hammocks. Lunch (not included) in one of the Lagoa do Paraíso little restaurants. Ride back to Jericoacoara in the afternoon. Read more

Jericoacoara

Free day to enjoy the atmosphere of Jericoacoara and its beaches. You will walk barefoot through the village alleys, where all kinds of restaurants can be found, and enjoy the incredible sunset on the closest sand dune to the village.

Jericoacoara - Barra Grande

Your driver will pick you up at your hotel in Jeri to go to Barra Grande village. You will cross rivers, take a bath in the Lagoa Torta lagoon and enjoy the over the water hammocks. After crossing Camocim village, you will arrive at Barra Grande seaside village. 3 hours’ transfer.

Free day to enjoy the atmosphere of Barra Grande. Among the possible activities are: kite surf, seahorse watching or walking through the long beach.

Barra Grande - Parnaiba

Transfer from Barra Grande to the Delta of Parnaíba. Depending on your hotel, you will either spend the night on Parnaíba village or on a Delta Island.

Parnaíba - Atins

You will take a 4WD to Tutoia and again a motorboat to cross the Delta of Parnaíba and enjoy its fauna (birds, monkeys, and caimans), before reaching Caburé. Then departure for a short boat ride to Atins.

Free day to enjoy Atins, its tranquility, and heavenly beaches. At the end of the day, don´t miss the amazing sun rising at the dunes!

Trek Lençois Maranhenses

Your driver will pick you up before sunrise to bring you and your guide to Guajirú.From Guajirú, you will start the trek, walking between the dunes and enjoying the lagoons freshwater, until you reach the Baixa Grande oasis.At the end of the day,you will have the pleasure to watch the sunset over the Park on the top of a surrounding dune. Trek Lençois Maranhenses

Like on the first day of trek, you will leave very early to avoid the heat and enjoy the sunrise during the walk. You will cross the oasis heading south towards Lagoa Bonita, walking between sand dunes and lagoons for 5 to 6 hours. A 4WD vehicle will then take you to the small town of Barreirinhas. Your driver will pick you up in Barreirinhas to drive you to your hotel or to the airport in São Luís (4 hours' drive). Read more
