Drive to visit an old Han Chinese village, these Han Chinese people in the history during the war between Han and ethnic people here, they moved here and settled down forever. Han Chinese in other places lost the traditions but people here still keeps them, now, it’s like a living Museum of Han Chinese, drive to visit the biggest waterfall in Asia: Huanggoushu Waterfalls with the longest drops of 84m in Asia. Attend Tiaohuacha Festival Drive on the zigzags to Longga village to attend the Tiaohuacha Festival of the long-horn Miao people, the 12 Longhorn Miao villages are all next to each other in the mountains here, all the people would gather together to Longga for the festival during the day, we can also look into the villages to see the traditional houses of the people with stone walls and grass roofs. We will arrive early to see the people get dressed in their festival attire and visit the village and its traditional architecture. Look at how people dress up before the festival starts. Drive to Nande with visits to Bouyi and Miao villages along the way where the houses are all built out of stones and wood, people in the village are still wear their traditional clothes made from Batik, traditional way of farming are still kept here as well. Drive to Nande via Guiyang on the highways. Nande is a traditional Miao village built in traditional wooden house. We will stay with a familly tonight. Read more

Lusheng Festival takes place everyday in different villages near Kaili, we will drive to the villages and attend the festival and back to Kaili for the night. During the festival, Miao villagers gather together and dance in the village square, wearing their finest costumes. These outfits can be so complicated to dress and undress that the girls’ mothers are always in attendance to lend a hand. In the square, people dance in circles while in the middle folk musicians play the Lusheng. As the girls dance in the square, the men watch buffalos fighting in the fields. It is also the time for people to relax and visit each after the hard working of the year. Read more
Visit the market in Kaili and drive to Taijiang, we will go to a village to see one of the Dragon team to see how they prepare for the dragon dance. Witness the dragon dance different team on the streets of Taijiang in the later afternoon.
We will see how the locals prepare the fire dragons for the night. Attend the Fire-Dragon Dance Festival in the evening. When it’s getting dark, 40 to 50 firework-laden dragons will dance through the streets of the town with people setting off the fireworks on the way. They dance from one family to another to give blessings and good wishes for the coming year. Read more

Our customized tour of Yunnan province for 16 days far exceeded our expectations. It was a fascinating journey through some of the most spectacular scenery I have ever seen. There is a lot of unique geography and interesting ethnic groups throughout the region. We traveled through many areas of relatively remote mountains and river gorges. Really off the beaten track! But even on somewhat treacherous roads, we were comfortable and felt secure. One reason we chose Edward Adventures was because they were able to provide us with one guide and driver that would be responsible for us the whole trip. The high level of service and consistency of this approach was really exceptional and very tailored to our preferences. We felt like a family friend was showing us around his home territory. The meals were really something special! Our guide knew all the local specialties in each place we visited and we tried them all. It seemed he handpicked our food for us and made sure of the best quality everywhere we went. Our hotels were very comfortable. The most impressive thing about our tour was probably the way our guide seemed to always know where to go to get away from the crowds, to see the most amazing scenery and interesting sites in a very personalized way. And the many Chinese people he introduced to us everywhere were so friendly and warm. We didn’t even feel much like tourists travelling with him! We did a 3 week tour from Lijiang to Chengdu ( 3 of us ) with Edward as our guide and driver. It was a most memorable experience with Edward intimate knowledge of the best scenery , the best cultural experience and local customs and events. Wherever we went we got an insight into the local way of life and tried all the local food specialties. We also did some trekking and were taken to some really special places such as Thousand Tortoise Mountain, Tiger Leaping Gorge and Yading Nature Reserve. The scenery is really spectacular and for us fortunately also were the wildflowers.
