Meet up in the lobby with the car rental agency to collect your car. You will depart to Puerto Viejo, on the beautiful south Caribbean coast. Arrival at the hotel and check-in. Time at leisure to relax by the swimming pool or on the beach, or enjoy the hotel facilities.

EXPLORING THE AREA

Day at leisure to enjoy the area. The best way to discover the place is on a bike! You can rent them in the village of Puerto Viejo or ask you hotel, they may have a few bikes for rent. Tour of the Jaguar Rescue Center: The Jaguar Rescue Center is a rehabilitation center for injured and abused animals. The tour will give you the chance to see the work of the employees and volunteers, and get a closer look at the wild animals of Costa Rica! Besides, the entrance fee will help the center in their actions. Hike in Cahuita National Park : Cahuita National Park is a must see on the Caribbean Coast. You will have a walk on the seaside trails of the National Park, dotted with beautiful little bays, lined by coconut trees and protected by a coral reef. You can easily observe the wildlife: monkeys, birds, iguanas, raccoons, coatis, sloths and more might cross your path. Night tour in La Ceiba Reserve : This tour starts with a delicious organic diner before going for a 2h hike across the deep forest of La Ceiba Reserve to watch the nighttime activities of nocturnal animals. Full day immersion in a Bri-Bri indigenous community : You will meet a Bri-Bri family, part of the Kekoldy community, who breeds iguanas and grows medicinal plants in their little farm. The Green Iguana is an endangered species due to intensive hunting and thanks to initiative such as this family’s, the number of green iguanas is slowly coming back to normal. You will also learn everything about cacao, a very important plant in the Bri-Bri culture due to its healing, spiritual and, of course, gustatory properties. Read more

TURRIALBA VOLCANO

You start your journey further inland, toward Irazu and Turrialba Volcanoes. The volcanic activity makes the soil of this area highly fertil, and that’s the reason why you could see a large variety of crops and plantations on the way, such as sugar cane, coffee, ect. DAY AT LEISURE IN TURRIALBA

Day at leisure to go explore the area with an optional tour : Canyoneering and Zip-line Tour : Canyoning involves rappelling and descending cliffs and waterfalls within the canyon. Our Canyoning site is located in Calle Chirraca, a small, modest, yet lush place near our own Turrialba. The guide will explain the course and the equipment making sure you know the necessary mechanisms and procedures for canyoning, ensuring you a safe and fun experience. After this, you are off on a 2-3 hour adventure...rappelling down four waterfalls, zip lining down four canopy cables, and walking across a 132 foot hanging bridge – all giving you an unforgettable adrenaline rush! Rafting Pejibaye River : A family rafting adventure. Do it with us in Pejibaye River rafting class II and III. In Pejibaye River you will go down does not solely exist of rapids, in between the white water sections are more quite parts where your guide will encourage you to jump out of the boat and go for a little swim. This is perfectly safe and adds to the fun on the water. Archeological site Guayabo National Monument : Veiled in the shadow of the Turrialba Volcano, like a mythical "lost city" from a storybook, lies a mysterious ancient city that was home to over 10,000 people who seemed to have mysteriously vanished just before the arrival of the Spanish in the 16th century. This region, known as Guayabo National Monument, is Costa Rica's most important archaeological site and it’s only named National Monument. A guide will walk you through the park while explaining the findings of the excavations and the history of the people that once lived there. Research center and botanical garden CATIE Tour : During the plantation tour, a guide will help familiarize you with the extensive plantations of CATIE, and the significant contributions CATIE has made towards the research and education of tropical agriculture. A guide will give you an informative tour through some of CATIE, where you can appreciate a variety of tropical plants from distinct parts of the world. The plantations of major relevance are: coffee, cocoa, pejibayes, tropical fruit and forest species. Horseback Riding Adventure : Once at the stables you will be introduced to your friendly, highly trained horse that will be selected for you by the experts at the stables. During the horseback riding trip, you will pass through rolling sugar cane and coffee plantations and a secondary forest. Riders have a chance to see a variety of birds such as oropendula, black guan, and other animals such as sloths and iguanas. Additionally, the riding tour will take riders to areas with phenomenal views of the surrounding countryside. You will climb and descend small hills throughout the trip slowly making a loop through the beautiful countryside. This tour offers the best views of Turrialba! Costa Rica Coffee Tour : Many coffee lovers do not even know the origins of their morning brew! While you are on the farm you will learn all about the different types of coffee beans, and how they produce different flavor profiles of coffee. This journey begins in the coffee plantations, here you will go into the coffee fields and learn about the methods and procedures of picking coffee cherries. After a walk in the coffee plantations, you will go into the factory and learn about roasting and how the green bean turns in to the black coffee bean. Roasting is an art in itself and you will have the opportunity to see this first hand. The methods of cleaning the coffee beans comes next, followed by an explanation of how they ship their coffee all over to world to Folgers and even Starbucks. Day at leisure to explore the area with an optional tour: Morning walk in seek of the Quetzal : This very colorful bird, hard to breed in captivity, was also called the Snake bird by the precolombinan populations, due to the long and pointy feathers of its tail. Self-guided tour of the Quetzales National Park : it is one of the smallest National Park in the country, and it has been founded in order to protect the water tables and the forests of this area, being home of numerous endanger species such as the Quetzal. Guide hike in the « Paramo » of Buena Vista Peak : Buena Vista Peak is the second highest mountain in Costa Rica. OFF TO THE PACIFIC COAST

You will continue your journey southward, to the little towns of Uvita and Dominical. This area is famous for being a great whalewatching spot from July to mid-Novembre and from mid-december to April. CORCOVADO NATIONAL PARK HIKE

Today you will go for a full day tour in Corcovado National Park! Famous for being–the Amazon of Costa Rica—the Corcovado National Park is the largest stronghold of primary forest on a Pacific coastline, and is famous for being “the most biologically intense place on Earth”. Upon arrival to San Pedrillo Ranger Station you will prepare for two guided nature tour hikes along two different trails and observe beautiful flora and fauna. Each hike takes around 2 hours. During the hikes you will be able to see many mammals such as spider, howler, and white-faced monkeys, sloths, coatis, raccoons, and tapirs as well as a great variety of birds, plants, and trees with over one hundred years of existence and in danger of extinction. After the first hike, we serve a picnic lunch near the San Pedrillo ranger station and then we begin the second trek. Back at the lodge in the end of the afternoon. Read more

CAÑO ISLAND SNORKELLING TOUR

New day, new adventure! Today you will go for an amazing full day snorkeling tour in Cano Island. Cano Island is an amazing marine biological reserve with virgin blue waters making it the perfect tropical paradise for snorkelers and divers. It is home to and spectacular variety of stunning marine flora and fauna and is famous for having Costa Rica’s largest concentration of coral-building organisms along the Pacific Ocean. Arriving at the island you will be able to appreciate the healthiest coral reefs on this Costa Rica snorkeling adventure and observe a great variety of marine species, many of which are in danger of extinction. After this, you will head by boat to Violines Island (30 minutes) arriving to the north side of this beautiful small Island with lush vegetation. Upon arrival the guides will prepare a picnic lunch. C’est un merveilleux pays, une découverte et des rencontres fabuleuses. Si, le paradis existe il est au costa rica!! Les gens sont souriants, accueillants, chaleureux, pas stressés, réconfortants nous avons beaucoup aimé aussi leur responsabilité écologique : le moindre village a ses poubelles de tri, même si c'est un simple bidon. Quand nous étions perdu il y avait toujours quelqu'un pour nous indiquer le chemin, et même sans que nous le demandions. On ne ressent pas comme dans d'autres endroits que le touriste n'est qu'une manne financière. Nous avons même sauvé un petit oiseau qui s'appelle « el amigo del hombre » des griffes d'une vilaine fougère!! Read more
