Dutch Canal which was then a supply route to the Dutch administration, old churches and fishing villagers is still being used and is an attraction for those who want to see the country from a different perspective. DAY 3

Habarana / Polonnaruwa / Pas

Breakfast at the hotel. Breakfast at the hotel. Afterwards proceed to Passe Kudah in the East Coast of Sri Lanka. En route sightseeing at the UNESCO World Heritage ancient city of Polonnaruwa: Polonnaruwa rose to fame as the capital after the decline of Anuradhapura. Its period of greatness was from the 10th - 12th centuries AD. The entire landscape of the region is punctuated by huge man-made reservoirs, veritable inland seas the most famous of which is the Prakrama Samudra or the Sea of Parakrama, larger in size than the Colombo harbor. The monuments of this medieval city are relatively well preserved and give clear evidence of the glory of Sri Lanka's past. See the Royal Palace complex, the Quadrangle with its concentration of ancient heritage and the spectacular Gal Vihare complex of four massive images of the Buddha, cut from a single slab of granite – a highlight of ancient Sri Lankan rock carving. Overnight stay at the resort in Passe Kudah. Read more

DAY 5

Pasikudhah / Sigiriya / Kand

Breakfast at the hotel. Afterwards proceed to Kandy. En route climb and sightseeing of the UNESCO world heritage Sigiriya Rock fortress: In the late afternoon, climb the UNESCO world heritage Sigiriya rock fortress. The most impressive facets of the unique complex are the Water Gardens, the Frescoes of beautiful maidens, the Mirror Wall with ancient graffiti, the Lion platform and the Summit of 1.6 hectares, which was completely covered by buildings during the period of Sigiriya’s glory. A mighty 600 ft high rock-fortress of a 5th century King is famous for its entrancingly beautiful frescoes which are found in a sheltered pocket of the rock. One cannot fail to marvel at the masterful execution of the sinuous forms of these women (originally 500, of which only 19 remain today). The old stairway to the top led through the mouth of a huge crouching lion, carved from the rock- today only the paws remain. Remains of the handsome royal citadel are on the summit. En route visit an organic herb and spice garden in Matale. In Kandy witness a Cultural dance show. Overnight stay at the hotel in Kandy. Read more

Kandy - 1 Night
DAY 6

Kandy / Nuwara Eliya

Breakfast at the hotel. Afterwards visit the Temple of the Tooth. Kandy a lovely city, the Hill Capital and last stronghold of the Sinhala Kings retains an aura of grandeur, which time has not affected. Encircled by hills, with a tranquil lake in its center, it is the site of the renowned "Temple of the Tooth" and the Royal Botanical gardens home to one of the best collections of Orchids. Kandy and its satellite villages are the centre of the islands handicraft industry and its traditional dances are the most spectacular in the country. Read more

Nuwara Eliya - 1 Night
DAY 7

Nuwara Eliya / Colombo

Breakfast at the hotel. Afterwards proceed to Colombo. In Colombo check in at the hotel. Afterwards do a city/shopping tour in Colombo including Gangaramaya temple, galle face green and the fort area: Colombo Although reclaiming its 19th-century moniker 'the garden city of the East' is unlikely, Colombo is rapidly emerging as a must-see stop in Sri Lanka. No longer just the sprawling city you have to endure on your way to the southern beaches, it has become a worthy destination in its own right. The legacies of colonial Colombo's garden roots are still very much intact along its often shady boulevards. Fort is in the midst of widespread historic restoration of its landmark colonial architecture, while Pettah brims with markets and rampant commerce. Even traffic-clogged Galle Rd is getting spiffier with glossy new hotel complexes, while the seafront benefits from new roads that are spurring hotel construction. Colombo’s cosmopolitan side supports ever-more stylish eateries, galleries and museums. Surprises abound in its old quarters where you can find great local food and discover a characterful shop or tiny, convivial cafe. The capital is an excellent start – or finish – to your OVERNIGHT AT THE HOTEL IN COLOMBO. Read more

Dear Nilesh. I have just returned from the Colouricious Kashmir holiday. Could I thank you and your staff, not only for a wonderful holiday, but for all the rearrangements you made when we could not go to Srinagar. This must have involved a great deal of hard work and I wanted you to know how much we appreciated this. You were not obliged to do this and we were very grateful. We had a wonderful time in Jaipur and, as always with your company, everything was so well organised. Could I also take this opportunity to thank Amrik. He was amazing. His skill, his patience and professionalism, his concern for all of us and his calm demeanour meant that we all had the utmost confidence in him. This made the holiday a great pleasure for all of us, despite the change of plans. He maintained his good humour at all times and provided a wealth of information whenever we needed it. Thank you again to you and to all your staff. Please give my best wishes to Isha and I hope she is well. Above all my thanks and best wishes to Amrik. Your sincerely Jill Jordan (Margaret Jordan) Read more

Hello! After a few days of rest from the wonderful Gujarat trip Colouricious offered, I would like to take a moment of giving some feedback. Gautam was an excellent host/coordinator and expert on our trip. He has a unique ability to communicate with anybody, the Rabari nomads on the road, the British ladies, a small country Muslim community and more. He has built up many excellent relationships with so many people and it makes the trip more interesting. His pace of instruction and points of interest were spot on. There are so many memories, thankfully caught by camera to remind me of this trip. Here are but a few: . seeing the nomads on the road, with their children and tables on their camels . going to a small encampment of travellers where children were making beaded bracelets (great skills actually) . Seeing a cotton factory and talking to the owner! . Seeing a tribal dance at the Rann Riders and looking at the women's dress and jewellery . Seeing bells made and seeing a small community, I was particularly impressed with the community and how they interacted with a member of their community with autism. . Seeing a variety of weaving, one that included knots in the weavings. . Going to a embroiderers small house, where her daughter brought a jug of water on her head to the house. This woman was a character and her house was a warm inviting setting. These are but a few of my memories but just want to say you have a good leader in Gautam and he is an asset to your organisation. I'm looking forward to the February trip and want to thank all of you for all your hard work in organising memorable trips! Read more
