This in-depth journey will start from Mandalay and cover the highlights of Myanmar such as Inle Lake, Bagan and Yangon. Enjoy the stunning scenery of the countryside in Kalaw, a former British hill station thanks to its elevated position at 1320m on the rolling, pine-clad hills of the Shan Plateau before heading to Green Hill Elephant Camp, a refuge for retired elephants from the logging industry.

Mandalay Arrival

Arrive at Mandalay International Airport. Upon arrival, transfer for one hour to the hotel with our experienced local guide. Check-in at the hotel. After check in, start Mandalay sightseeing. The city was founded as capital of the Burmese empire in 1861, the second largest city in the country. The tour will begin with a visit to Mahamuni Pagoda which houses one of the country’s most honored Buddha images, completely covered in gold leaves. Then, head to traditional workshops and its expert craftsmen. Continue onto Kuthodaw Pagoda where the marble stone slabs of Buddhist scriptures are called the ‘World’s Biggest Book’. Then move onto Shwenandaw Monastery, a grand example of 19th century Myanmar teak architecture. In the late afternoon, reach summit of Mandalay Hill to catch sunset views. Overnight at the hotel. Mandalay (1 Night)

Breakfast at the hotel. First visit to Amarapura, 15 km (30 minutes) from Mandalay. Visit U Bein Bridge for a walk along this 200 year-old teak bridge teak bridge built in 1782 when Amarapura was Royal Capital. The bridge was constructed of 984 teak posts that were once part of the deserted Inwa Palace. At 1.2 kilometers in length, it is the world’s longest teak span. Then, visit Mahagandayon Monastery , a famous Buddhist monastery where more than a thousand monks live and study . If the time permits, observe the monks having their last meal of the day in total silence. Continue visit traditional hand – woven silk workshop . Then, visit the former Royal Capital of Inwa ( Ava ) with a short ride local ferry boat ( 10 minutes ) located on an island between the Ayeyarwaddy and the Myitnge Rivers. Visit Inwa by charming horse-drawn carriage pass through the ancients city walls to visit a brick and continue visit to the impressive wooden monastery of Maha Aungmye Bonzan, built of brick and stucco as well as the Bargayar Monastery, famous for its ornate woodcarvings and teak posts ( also known as Ok Kyaung ). Visit to the Nanmyint Watch Tower, the remains of the palace building nicknamed ' leaning tower of Ava ', the climb to the top offers lovely views over river. After visit , the journey continues with Khaung Mu Daw Pagoda at Sagaing and the Sagaing hills, a retreat for Buddhist devotees to enjoy sunset . Drive to Mandalay and transfer to the hotel. Mandalay - Heho - Kalaw

Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to Mandalay airport for domestic flight to Heho airport. Arrive in Heho and drive to Kalaw, a former British hill station. Enjoy cozy scenes along the way. Arrive in Kalaw and visit Christ the King Church, a brick catholic church, and Hnee Paya which features a gold lacquered bamboo Buddha. Transfer to Hotel for check-in and free time at leisure. Kalaw (1 Night)

Kalaw - Green Hill - Inle

Breakfast at hotel. Proceed to Green Hill Valley Elephant Camp in Magwe village. Welcomed by the team and information in English about this project. Walk around 7 minutes to elephant village and see the life of the mahouts with their families. Time to introduce with the elephants and feed them with the daily prepared food. Then, the team will lead to the river where elephant bath and take part in washing elephants like an own pet. (Option: having an experience of sitting on the elephant’s back (like Mahout) after washing. Riding is not the main focus. Big groups up to 8 persons are strictly prohibited to be on elephants..!) Lunch will be served at the main camp. Then, explore around the forest area and take the opportunity to see butterflies, birds and orchids in their conservation area, if clients want to spend longer time in the nature. Join the team to plant one regional tree for forest recovery efforts. Return to main camp and enjoy the view through valley. Drive to Nyaung Shwe jetty for over 2 hours, the gateway to Inle Lake and stop to Shan umbrellas factory and Shwe Yin Pyay teak monastery en route. Then, boat transfer to your hotel for checking in. Inle Lake (1 Night)

Breakfast at the hotel. Embark on local motorized pirogues to explore Inle Lake, a magical watery world. Pass several stilted Intha villages built over the lake, observe the local leg-rowing fishermen and see their floating gardens. Continue onto Phaung Daw U Pagoda, the lake’s main haven, which contains five sacred images of Buddha decorated in gold leaf. Transfer by boat to visit the lake’s morning market, the location of which changes every day. The Intha and Paoh hill tribes sell their fresh products here. Continue by boat onto the Pa-Oh village of Indein, on the western shore of Inle Lake, enshrined among hundreds of stupa ruins and overgrown shrubbery. Head back to the lake and experience an exclusive lunch in a traditional Intha House and enjoy the delicious Shan cuisine, cooked in the nearby kitchen. Stop at the weaving village of Inpawkhone and a cheroot factory, where traditional Burmese cigars are handmade. Transfer by boat to hotel. Overnight at the hotel. Read more

Inle Lake (1 Night)

Inle Lake - Heho - Bagan

Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to Heho airport for short domestic flight to Nyaung Oo airport. In the morning, start the day with first visit to Nyaung-Oo morning market to see people ways of life. Begin the day with the most significant pagodas and temples of Bagan including Shwezigon Pagoda built by King Anawrahta in the early 11th as a religious shrine. Continue onto Ananda Temple: a whitewashed masterpiece of Mon architecture with four standing Buddhas and the adjacent brick monastery with the beautiful, well-preserved 18th century murals. Visit Thatbinnyu Temple known as “temples of omniscience” and dating from 1144. Continue visit to the Sulamani temple. Transfer to the hotel and leisure. Afternoon visit one of the Myanmar's most treasured handicrafts, a lacquer ware home Industry: near by Myingabar village. Continue visit to Damayangyi Temple (the massive temple in Bagan). Breakfast at Hotel. Morning time at leisure to enjoy facilities of the hotel. In the afternoon, visit Lemyethna Temple built in 1222, topped by an Indian-style spire, similar to Ananda. Continue onto Payathonzu (the name literally means Three Stupas) design is remarkably similar to Khmer Buddhist ruins in Thailand and two of the shrines contain vaguely Chinese or Tibetan-looking mural paintings including Bodhisattva figures. Visit Nandamannya Temple, dating from the mid-13th Century with fine frescoes and an unexpectedly erotic mural. Take a break from temples and wander through the village of Minnanthu to see how the local people live. Enjoy sunset boat on the Ayeyarwaddy River. Overnight at hotel. Read more

Bagan (1 Night)

Breakfast at the hotel. Short transfer to Nyaung U for morning flight to Yangon. Arrive in Yangon and transfer to hotel for checking in. Begin with Chauk Htat Gyi Pagoda to see a huge reclining Buddha image, Karaweik Royal Barge (a royal floating barge on a lake for a fantastic photo view). Afterwards, visit Bogyoke Market ( Scott Market ), to give the opportunity to see Myanmar's wide range of handicrafts and souvenirs. Shopping time with hundreds of food , clothes, handicrafts and gems store. At the evening time, complete your day in Myanmar with an extended visit to one of the world's most spectacular monuments, the Shwedagon Pagoda: its golden stupa is the 'heart' of Myanmar. The pagoda is believed 2,500 years old and the central stupa is surrounded by dozens of intricately decorated buildings and statues.
