Enjoy this scientific tour in the middle of the jungle, looking for the largest cat in the Americas: the jaguar. This majestic animal has a special place in pre-Hispanic culture and mythology. Nowadays, it is endangered due to hunting, loss of habitat and diminishing population of their prey. You’re going to look for these beautiful creatures deep in the jungle. You also get the chance to see other creatures in the region such as deer, tapir and bats.
Arrival in Cancun, transfer to Tulum. After check-in in Hotel iTour (or similar), enjoy the beautiful beach of Tulum. Afterwards, there's a briefing about the tour activities. Dinner in hotel.
Boat trip to Sian Ka'an biosphere reserve after breakfast. After, we continue our tour to Kantemo Maya town. Here we going to bike in the jungle and visit the famous cave. In this cave you are able to see snakes that feed themselves with bats. After the visit to the cave of Kantemo we bike to the lagoon. Enjoy a canoe trip and spot crocodiles. We bike back to the town of Kantemo, where we will enjoy breakfast. The van takes you to our next destination, Bacalar. On the way, we make a stop at the Cenote Azul. Refresh yourself in the clean waters of this cenote and enjoy a lunch. Once in Bacalar, we undertake a short hike around the Ejido Laguna in search of animals. After an early breakfast you will go hiking through to jungle to look for jaguar trails. After coming back to the hotel, you can relax and rest at the lagoon. Learn more about jaguars, the jungle and more animals. Also, learn about the conservation efforts and researches about the jaguar. Enjoy your free time before we undertake an afternoon hike to the jungle, where we will enjoy dinner. Read more
At day 5 we going to night paddle to seek for crocodiles, as well. This will take place after dinner in the jungle.
We begin this day in the same way as the previous two days, with a hike in the jungle to look for jaguar trails. This time we hike through a different area of the jungle. One back at the camp site, pack your stuff and make yourself ready to leave for Cancun. Lunch in Bacalar on the way. The last night we stay in the Marriott Courtyard Hotel (or similar), Cancun.
