NEW DELHI

After breakfast, do a full-day guided sightseeing tour of Delhi. The capital of India is a true reflection of the old and new of India. We start our morning tour with New Delhi by visiting the famous India Gate, a war memorial dedicated to thousands of Indian soldiers who lost their lives fighting in the battle during the World War-I and the Third Anglo-Afghan War. Spend some time taking photographs at the war memorial, followed by a drive past through the Houses of Parliament and Connaught Place. Iconic to Delhi, the two attractions offer an inviting view of the British colonial era architecture. Arrive at Old Delhi, here you will enjoy a rickshaw ride and explore the hubbub yet the charming side of the old part of Delhi. Visit the 361-year-old Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India with a courtyard that can hold up to 25,000 devotees. The elegant looking mosque with onion-shaped dome and minarets was commissioned by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan, who built the famous Taj Mahal. Moving ahead in your tour, you will drive past the UNESCO World Heritage site designated Red Fort - [Closed on Monday] that served as the imperial residence of the Mughal dynasty for around 200 years. Built of red sandstone, the construction of the fort took nine years to complete, which started in 1639. Enclosed with massive high walls, the fort is a wonderful structure to admire. You will now proceed to Humayun’s Tomb, a magnificent garden tomb, and the first to mark the grave of a Mughal emperor. It was built in 1565 A.D. by Bega Begum, senior widow of emperor Humayun, nine years after his demise. The arched exterior facade is inlaid with bands of white and red sandstone, and Islamic geometrical style strictly dominates the building’s structure and design. Lastly, proceed to another World Heritage Site in Delhi to Qutub Minar, a brick minaret towering 72 meters into the sky, 15 meters diameter at the base and a mere 2.5 at the top. Built in 1192, Qutub Minar is the highest single tower in India, and perhaps the tallest minaret in the world. The 5 storey tower is made of marble, buff and red sandstone, in a honeycomb design; beautiful Arabic verses are carved on the walls. In the evening, you can spend at leisure. NEW DELHI

You can board the morning train to Ajmer. The train leaves from New Delhi Railway Station and arrives at Ajmer Station. Upon arrival, visit the famous Dargah of Ajmer and thereafter drive to Pushkar (20kms). On arrival in Pushkar, check in at the hotel and relax. Later, visit the holy Pushkar Lake and the one and only Brahma Temple in India. The globally famous annual cattle festival is held on the auspicious soils of Pushkar in the month of November. JAIPUR

After breakfast, enjoy a full-day sightseeing trip to Jaipur, also known as the ‘Pink City’. Famous for its colourful culture, forts, palaces, and lakes, the old city of Jaipur is painted pink, which gives it a magical glow. Visit Amber Fort, a fascinating blend of Hindu and Mughal architecture. The best way to explore the fort is to ride up to it on elephants back (on your own expense). Later, stop to photograph the beautiful Hawa Mahal, also known as the “Palace of the Winds.” This beautiful façade with its ornately carved latticework windows is made of pink sandstone. Visit the City Palace, a synthesis of Rajasthani and Mughal styles. Later, visit the Jantar Mantar Observatory, comprising geometric devices for measuring time. You will also visit the Albert Hall, which was modelled on the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and is a fine example of Indo-Saracenic style of architecture. JAIPUR

Distance: 235kms; 4-5hrs drive approx. Today, after breakfast you will drive to Agra, en route visiting Fatehpur Sikri. This magnificent fortified ancient city, 40km west of Agra, was the short-lived capital of the Mughal Empire between 1572 and 1585, during the reign of Emperor Akbar. Earlier, Akbar had visited the village of Sikri to consult the Sufi saint Shaikh Salim Chishti, who predicted the birth of an heir to the Mughal throne. When the prophecy came true, Akbar built his new capital here, including a stunning mosque, still in use today, and three palaces, one for each of his favourite wives – one a Hindu, one a Muslim and one a Christian (though Hindu villagers in Sikri dispute these claims). The city was an Indo-Islamic masterpiece but erected in an area that supposedly suffered from water shortages and so was abandoned shortly after Akbar’s death. AGRA

Early morning, you will pay a visit to the Taj Mahal. The white marble mausoleum built by Emperor Shah Jahan in the memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal on the banks of Yamuna is the ultimate epitome of love. Owing to beautiful Mughal architecture, Taj features among the Seven Wonders of the World. Head back to the hotel for breakfast, post which you will check-out from the hotel and proceed for a visit of the Agra Fort. After this, drive from Agra to Delhi (distance: 205kms - 4hrs drive approx.) and get transferred to the Delhi Airport for your onward journey. Read more
