In this tour, we invite you to discover the Portuguese traditional dishes and the best wines while exploring the territory with local guides! Arrival at Lisbon International Airport and meeting with the Wild Douro staff to begin our journey in Portugal together. Our first stop in Portugal is in a Quinta, one of the oldest estates with a secular historical background and a significant architectural landmark, located on the western foothills of the Serra de Montejunto. During our time in the estate, we will have a guided visit to learn about the history and wines, followed by a delicious traditional Portuguese cuisine. We will drive towards Óbidos, an historical village reminds princes and princesses and it iss a museum for visitors. During the time in the village, we suggest that the group taste a famous typical liquor. Our day will end once we arrive to Caldas da Rainha, where we will spend the night. Today we have a long day ahead where we will discover more wonders of this beautiful country. The day begins with a visit to the local market of Caldas da Rainha, where we will feel the freshness and be surrounded by the colors of the local products. Here we have it all: fruit, vegetables, typical sweets and much more. We will continue the day towards Coimbra, the main city of the center of Portugal, and one of the most historic cities with a rich heritage surrounded by the Mondego river. The human presence in this region comes from ancient times due to the good conditions that the city offered. Celts, Romans and Visigoths were some of the many peoples who passed and left their mark in Coimbra. Our visit in Coimbra starts in the most famous Quinta, the secret place where the two lovers, D. Pedro and Inês de Castro always met. Their love was disapproved by the court and the King D. Afonso IV that command in 1355 the death of Inês de Castro. After our visit, we will meet with a local guide that will accompany the group towards in a guided walking tour before our departure from the city. We will leave Coimbra and drive towards Viseu, to enjoy lunch in a Michelin star restaurant. After our Micheling experience, we will head towards the hotel accommodation and check-in. The group will have free time to relax or explore Viseu on their own. At the according time, we will departure to the restaurant that present us with comfort food with a modern touch. The restaurant policy is to recreate the meals from the owner’s grandparents and travel back to the childhood memories, which gave the name of the place. We will leave Viseu and explore the Douro Valley. Some people say that the best way to explore a new region is by travelling its roads, and that’s what we will do today. The group will meet with professional drivers and know the Douro Valley in a 4 wheel tour. We will get to know the different roads and have an incredible adventure. The final result? We will have the most breathtaking view of the valley. Our experience isn’t complete without an incredible meal. With the Wild Douro staff, the group will prepare an outdoor meal in the valley and enjoy the Portuguese flavors in what it is considered one of the most beautiful regions of the country. We will continue the day after lunch. Our 4 wheel tour adventure ends in Régua, but our great day isn’t over. We will hop on board a boat and enjoy a private trip towards the river until the hotel accommodation. Free time to rest before leaving the hotel to enjoy dinner in a traditional restaurant which is also a rural and ethnographic museum. Return to the hotel after dinner. Read more
Breakfast buffet at the hotel accommodation and free time to relax. We suggest the group to enjoy the services of the hotel, such as the spa. At the according time, the group will meet with the hotel’s Chef and have a culinary adventure. We will visit the organic garden of the hotel that is full of fruits and vegetables, aromatic herbs, flowers and many other natural products. We will feel the products with our own hands while following the Chef’s indications in a cooking class. At the end, we will enjoy the delicious meal we have prepared together. During the afternoon, we will visit a Quinta in Baião. In more recent times, the farm belongs to Manoel de Oliveira who transformed the farm on several fronts and built aqueducts, massive walls, stone houses and granite floors to dry the cultivated corn. Breakfast buffet at the hotel accommodation and check-out. We will leave the hotel early to drive towards Matosinhos and visit the market. Matosinhos is known by the fresh fish and the market is the right place to buy it. The Wild Douro staff will accompany the group in the visit and acquire the best products because we will use them in today’s dinner. After the shopping, we will drive towards the center of Porto. With a magnificent location next to the Douro and an architectural complex of exceptional value, the historic center of the city of Porto has been World Heritage Site since 1996. Gilled with tradition and great monuments, Porto is the city that everyone wants to visit. In the Ribeira area, the visitors will find many restaurants near the Douro river and from the other side, in Vila Nova de Gaia, the main center of production of Port wine, where we will have a stunning view of the city. We will have a walking guided tour towards the city, and what will be our company during our tour? Amazing traditional food. Our guide will take to the unique place where we will taste Portuguese cheese and also to the Bolhão market that also has local and fresh products that we will acquire for tonight. The tour will cover the Rua da Almada and end with a taste of the famous Pasteis de Nata. Once we’re ready, we will departure to Mindelo and enjoy a cooking workshop and dinner in a Portuguese family house, with the products we bought today. Breakfast buffet at the hotel accommodation and check-out. We will leave the north of Portugal and drive towards another special Quinta in Bairrada. The estate has been passed to generation, and today is already in the third generation of the family. Mr. Mário is the responsible for the fantastic service and quality of the products. This estate adopts minimalist oenology, making the wines as natural as possible, so that they express the terroir where they were born. Their wines also have in common a great longevity, whether red, white or sparkling. We will enjoy lunch at the estate. Our lunch will be a traditional meal from the region that will delight the palate of the group. After lunch, we will visit the estate and end the tour with a tasting. Once the tour is over, we will drive towards Lisboa and check-in at the hotel accommodation. Free time to rest or explore on their own. At the according time, we will visit a Fado restaurant, where we will enjoy a traditional meal accompanied by the beautiful and traditional music style that is consider World Heritage by UNESCO. Our day will end once dinner is over and we arrive to the hotel accommodation. Read more

Depending on the hour of our flight home, our suggestion would be that the group has free time to do some shopping at the outlet of the city. In the purchases that the group acquires, there is a 10% discount and in the airport it can be presented the invoices to have the TAX Free. As soon as the time to leave to the airport arrives, the Wild Douro driver will meet with the group to complete the journey. The guide will also accompany the group throughout the journey to the airport and will provide the necessary help with all the required formalities at the airport. Our journey comes to an end.
