- Overnight stay in Zabljak
We rise early today, and after breakfast, we head on to our next location in neighboring Montenegro. It will take a bit of a ride, but in the end,d it will be absolutely worth it.
Upon our arrival and
brief rest to freshen up and recover from our long trip, we’ll go for a nice and easy trek of Durmitor’s glacial lakes dating to prehistoric times. Following our walk around Black Lake we’ll have an opportunity to visit one of other, nearby glacial lakes, but we could also simply lounge around and enjoy in the astonishing views offered by our accommodation in Žabljak.
The depths of these lakes harbor numerous underwater passages, through which water flows into the rivers of Tara and Piva, representing a distinct natural phenomenon, a bifurcation of sorts. Black Lake, as well as the remaining glacial lakes in the vicinity of Durmitor, are collectively known as the Eyes of the Mountain.
In the afternoon, we’ll have an option of simply enjoying the view, resting under the sun. Or, have a light trek to one of nearby mountains for a more active afternoon.
Afterwards, we head back to our accommodation for a nice, traditional dinner and rest.
