Begin your day with visit National Museum (formerly Royal Palace) which is situated at the banks of the Mekong River, the Royal Palace was constructed to French designs for King Sisavangvong between 1904 and 1909. Now somewhat lacking in royalty, the country has found a new role for the former palace – as National Museum. Not only does it house the royal throne of the Kingdom of Lane Xang and other religious treasures, but also a vast assortment of gifts and other paraphernalia collected by the former kings and queens of Laos and, replica of country’s palladium, the golden Prabang. Then boat trip up the Mekong River to the caves at Pak Ou. During the two hour journey the boat will pass by some small villages on the banks of the river, interestingly when the water level is low the women of these local villages line the banks panning for gold. The two caves at Pak Ou are Tham Ting and Tham Phoumand and within these caves there are thousands of Buddha images of all styles and sizes. Lao people deposit their older Buddha images here when they become too fragile to leave out for everyday display making for an eerie yes fascinating site. After exploring the cave network re-board the boat and return down river with a final stop at the local whiskey village of Ban Xang Hai. Famous for its locally distilled rice whiskey “Lao Lao,” the villagers of Ban Xang Hai call it firewater and occasionally add scorpions or snakes to a bottle for effect. Here if you are feeling brave, you are able to sample some of the local firewater & Ban Xang Khong, a well-known village for its wood paper making and also Lao silk weavings with natural dyes various craft-shops before returning to Luang Prabang. A morning breakfast, before we take a drive (30 km South) to visit Kuangsi Waterfall, which, though not very high, is spectacular and really beautiful with its green surroundings as the preserved National park. We stop en-route, stop to visit a fresh produced market namely Talath Posy, and also visit Ban Na Oune, a small village of a hill-tribe group "Hong", probably the best-known minority group in Laos. Just before arriving at Kuangsi waterfall, there is another village of Hum minority group, namely Ban Thapaene that we will visit. There is plenty of time for relaxing and a swim in cool water, before we head back to Luang Prabang in the late afternoon. The rest of the day is spent by visiting various craft-shops, including silver smiths\' and also Hmong market in town, where some skilled embroidery-works of Hmong ladies can be seen. Breakfast at hotel Before leaving Vang Vieng for Vientiane, visit local market. Arrive Vientiane in the afternoon, transfer to hotel . Commence sightseeing, visit Vientiane’s oldest surviving temple, Wat Sisaket. Less well known by its full name Vat Sisaketsata Sahatsaham, the temple was constructed in 1818 and stands opposite the Presidential Palace. Altogether, the temple features over 6,800 Buddha images of varying sizes and materials which are all ritually cleansed at the time of the Lao New Year. Next, head to the former royal temple of the Lao monarchy, Ho Prakeo (now converted into a museum). The temple was built in 1565 by King Setthathirat to house a precious emerald Buddha and also serve as his personal place of worship. Although the original emerald Buddha was subsequently relocated to Bangkok’s Wat Phra Keo (Emerald Buddha Temple), Ho Prakeo contains some of Laos’ most impressive examples of Buddhist sculpture. Continue on to visit the That Luang Stupa, the most important national monument in Laos and a symbol of both the Buddhist religion and Lao sovereignty. Its full name, Pra Jedi Lokajulamani means “world precious sacred stupa” and an image of the main stupa appears on Laos’ national seal. The Great Stupa is designed to be ascended by the faithful and there are walkways around each level, with stairways between. Each level of the monument has different architectural features in which Buddhist doctrine is encoded. The various scriptures are meant to be contemplated as visitors walk around. And to the center of Vientiane prefecture for a visit to Patuxai, the Victory Monument. Upon arrival at Pakse Airport, meet and assist then drive up to the Bolaven Plateau and make our way to Tad Phaseuam waterfall. Here we enjoy an easy trek to nearby villages of ethnic minorities villages like Laven, Alak, Taoy and others. Then we continue to Tad Lo waterfall where we stop for lunch. After lunch we drive up to Ban Thataeng through banana and coffee plantations and have a stop-over in Ban Ka Toth village to visit a coffee fair trade farmers’ co-op. We observe the processing of the coffee beans from planting to roasting to the final product in your cup. Then we stop at the amazing 120-meter Tad Fan waterfall.
