Immerse yourself in the mysteries of the mangroves and explore one of Central America’s largest mangrove system.
These wetlands are home to a wide variety of birds, mammals, reptiles and fish. Archaeologists have also been intrigued in this area as it contains pieces that date back to the pre-columbian
era.
The Terraba Sierpe National Wetlands cover an area of 66,850 acres of land and water; visitors might get a sight of reptiles such as iguanas, caimans, crocodiles and turtles.
Mammals that are frequently sighted include sloths, three species of monkeys, coatimundi and raccoons.
Several bird species such as Scarlett Macaws, herons, trogons, toucans and many others live here.
Don’t forget your camera and binoculars!.
What to bring? Comfortable clothing, long pants, hiking shoes, raincoat (especially during green season), camera, binoculars, sunscreen and insect repellent.
