Myanmar Family Tour

The program includes the main destinations, * classic and historic tours in Mandalay, Bagan and Yangon, * people/tribes and nature tours in Inle lake. It is good to travel throughout the year, the best time for travel in Myanmar is from October to April. As May to September is rainy seasons in Myanmar, normally we have rains in Yangon more, the places like Mandalay and Bagan have less rains as they are dry zone.


Upon arrival at Yangon International Airport, you will be welcomed by our representative and transferred to your hotel. Once you are refreshed we will visit to the National Museum, home to many interesting artifacts from Myanmar’s past before exploring Yangon’s bustling downtown area, which is said to have the highest collection of colonial-era buildings in Southeast Asia. Of particular interest is the wide Pansodan Street, which houses numerous beautiful buildings as well as street side bookstalls. Then we visit to Bogyoke Aung San market, where you have the chance to browse for Myanmar crafts. Our tour will finish with a visit to the remarkable Shwedagon Pagoda, which towers over the city and is the most highly-revered religious structure in the country. It is a sight that no visitor to Myanmar should miss. And you will have a chance to enjoy the sunset experience at iconic Shwedagon Pagoda. Overnight in Yangon


After breakfast, we will drive to Mawlamyine around 7 hours, the tropical capital of Mon state and one-time administrative centre of British Burma. This quiet city has many colonial buildings lining its streets and a magnificent pagoda with views of the surrounding area – it was a short visit here that inspired Rudyard Kipling to write his famous poem. Overnight in Mawlamyine


In the morning, transfer to the jetty for the short boat trip to Bilu Island, which specializes in the making of crafts such as walking sticks, pipes and rubber bands. Returning to Mawlamyine, and we will spend the afternoon exploring the city, including Pa Auk Taw Ya Monastery, one of the largest meditation centres in Myanmar and the 100-year-old wooden monastery at Seindon Minbaya Kyaung. Overnight in Mawlamyine


After breakfast, we drive to Mount Kyaiktiyo in the Mon state, site of the famous Golden Rock. We will take a truck from Kimpun station to the top of the mountain. Golden Rock; it is a large boulder, which appears delicately balanced, supposedly by the assistance of a well-placed hair of the Buddha, on the edge of a cliff near the top of a mountain. Overnight in Kyaikhtiyo


Enjoy the beautiful morning sunrise at Mount Kyaiktiyo before descending the mountain for transport back to base camp and drive back to Yangon. On the way, we will visit Bago which is one of Myanmar’s many ancient capitals; sightseeing includes the massive Shwemawdaw Pagoda, even taller than the Shwedagon pagoda and KanbawzaThardy, the old palace of King Bayint Naung. Overnight in Yangon


After breakfast, we will transfer to the airport for your flight to Heho, the gateway to Inle Lake. The lake, about an hour’s drive from the airport, is most famous for the famous leg-rowing style of the Inthar fishermen who live on the lake, as well as its floating gardens growing a selection of vegetables. After arriving in Inle Lake, we will take a sightseeing tour of the lake, highlights on the lake tour include Inn Paw Khone village to witness the lotus and silk weaving industries, and then continue our visit to the Phaung Daw Oo pagoda, which is the most highly revered monastery in the Inle Lake area. Overnight in Inle/NyaungShwe


The next morning, we will travel to Indein to observe a 17th century Pagoda complex and visit small communities alongside the edge of the lake. On the way, we will see some of the lake’s famous floating gardens. Then we transfer to Red Mountain Estate Vineyard. One of the local vintners will explain the process of wine making like harvesting, crushing, pounding and fermentation. Finish up your day with sunset wine tasting and drive back to your hotel. Overnight in Inle/NyaungShwe


After breakfast, we will transfer to the airport for your flight to Nyaung U, the gateway to the Bagan temples, where we will begin an archaeological tour of this ancient site. Then we will continue the tour which takes in famous sites including Damayarzaka Pagoda, Shwegugyi, Thabyinnyu. Other highlights include Shwesandaw, for its panoramic view of the temples, the mural paintings at Gubyukggyi and Abeyadana Temple, which is famed for its mural paintings about Mahayana Buddhism. Overnight in Bagan


After your breakfast at hotel, we will drive to Mount Popa, which supposedly rose from the ground in a massive earthquake in 442 BC. Mt. Popa is famous as the abode of the Nats (Spirit Gods) and for its panoramic view of the local tropical region. There is a volcanic plug with a temple on top that we can climb up to if we like. Overnight in Bagan


After breakfast, we will transfer to the airport for your flight to Mandalay, which was the final capital of then-Burma’s Konbaung Dynasty until its decline in 1885 at the hands of the British. Another former capital, Amarapura, is just outside the town’s limits, and we will travel to see the Mahagandayon monastery, which is a school for young monks and to see the thousands of monk line up for alms food. And nearby is the world-famous U Bein Bridge, which is regarded as the longest teak bridge in the world. And we will continue to a former royal capital, Inwa which was founded in 1364 and which lasted nearly 400 years as a royal capital. Overnight in Mandalay


The next morning, we will go to Mandalay jetty to take the pleasant boat ride upriver to Mingun, which is the site of what would have been the world’s largest pagoda had King Bodawpaya not died in 1819 during its construction. Suffering poor luck, an earthquake in 1838 reduced it to partial rubble. However, the temple remains a spectacular sight as you approach it from the river. There is also the Mingun Bell, which was moved from the temple, and is said to be the largest hanging bell in the world. Then, we return to Mandalay and visit Mandalay’s sights and explore the incredible choice of pagodas and monasteries in Myanmar’s cultural capital. Highlights in the town include the highly-revered Mahamuni Pagoda, the wood-carved Shwenandaw Monastery and the world’s largest book at Kuthodaw Pagoda. In the morning, we visit the former capital of Sagaing, which has many stupas scattered along the side of the hills named after the town. Then we will continue drive to Monywa, which is situated on the edge of the Chindwin River and is a lively area for trading agricultural produce. In the morning we enjoy a trip along the Chindwin River, a tributary of the mighty Irrawaddy River, visiting Po Win Daung Caves, Shwe Ba Daung and Kyaukka village, which is famed for its lacquer ware. Later, we will drive back to Mandalay. Meals Provided: Breakfast
